- On Your Mark, Get Set, Grow: Fairmont Announces Future Hotels in Beijing, Shanghai and Anguilla -
TORONTO, September 21, 2007 - Fairmont Hotels & Resorts isn’t resting on its laurels when it comes to growth. The company has recently announced a number of exciting hotel projects:
Set to open in summer 2008, the 25-story Fairmont Beijing will feature 235 spacious guestrooms, restaurants and bars including a library lounge, function space together with a multi-purpose theatre, a business center and a 1000 square meter Willow Stream Spa offering fitness facilities and a swimming pool. Enjoying a premier downtown location, the hotel will be nearby well-known landmarks such as the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square.
Fairmont will renovate and reopen The Peace Hotel, a Shanghai landmark for over a century. The hotel has hosted distinguished guests from all over the world, including politicians, artists and celebrities such as General Marshall, Charlie Chaplin, Bernard Shaw and Noel Coward, who wrote Private Lives while in residence. Situated on the Bund, the 12-story Peace Hotel enjoys a premier downtown location, facing the Pudong area over the Hangpu River. The hotel is slated to open in 2010.
Also opening in 2010 is Fairmont Anguilla, which will offer 140 rooms and suites, meeting facilities and a Willow Stream Spa. The property has also been selected as the site for a Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, one of 25 worldwide destinations.
