ENVIRONMENTAL PIONEER
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is a leader in sustainable tourism and was the first major hotel chain in North America to embrace environmental stewardship in its daily operations through the implementation of its own Green Partnership Program. The program focuses on sustainability, mainly improvements in the areas of waste management, energy and water conservation, as well as a strong element of community outreach through local groups and partnerships. Initiatives include recycling and organic waste diversion in the hotel’s kitchens, retrofitting energy efficient lighting, creating rooftop herb gardens at properties, purchasing green power, and redistributing gently used goods and food to those in need. National Geographic Traveler refers to it as “the most comprehensive environmental program in the North American hotel industry". Fairmont was awarded the prestigious 2006 Global Tourism Business Award, presented by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTCC), for its commitment to sustainable tourism.

WILLOW STREAM THE SPAS AT FAIRMONT

The Willow Stream spa philosophy is inspired by the elements - air, water, earth, wood and fire and these natural characteristics are incorporated into locally inspired signature treatments.

GOLF & SKI
Created by renowned designers like Stanley Thompson, Thomas McBroom, Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., Fairmont’s visually stunning and technically challenging golf courses are consistently top-ranked. In Condé Nast Traveler’s June 2007 listing of the “Top 100 Golf Resorts Around the World”, eight of Fairmont’s golf properties were ‘teed up’ as some of the best places to hit the links. Appearing on the list were The Fairmont Chateau Whistler; The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui; The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii; The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess; The Fairmont Pierre Marques, Acapulco; The Fairmont Banff Springs and The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (both in Alberta, Canada) and newcomer to the list, Fairmont St Andrews, Scotland. Fairmont’s mountain properties have long been a ‘cool’ spot to hit the slopes. In Eastern Canada, Fairmont Tremblant is a popular choice for those who love great skiing and the charming French atmosphere of this mountain village. All of Fairmont’s Quebec properties are an easy drive from classic slopes like Mont Ste. Anne, Stoneham and Le Massif. On the Western front the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Fairmont Banff Springs are cradled by three of the Rockies’ most popular ski resorts and some of the finest powder skiing on the planet. Celebrity-favored Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers ski-in/ski-out access to world famous Whistler Blackcomb, two adjoining mountains with over 200 runs offering terrain for every level of winter enthusiast, and will proudly welcome guests from near and far for the 2010 winter Olympics.

REAL ESTATE
Meeting the growing demand for high-end vacation residences, Fairmont’s real estate ventures continue to grow, with mixed-use projects, vacation ownership products under the Fairmont Heritage Place brand and whole-ownership Fairmont Residences all under development. In destinations as varied as Colorado, San Francisco, Acapulco, Dubai, South Africa and Vancouver, vacation ownership properties and residences are usually part of a community or a segregated section of a hotel and are located in prime city addresses or in resort areas with a nearby beach, ski hill or golf course. They are not only a luxurious “home away from home”; they also provide an attractive option for investment purposes.
