About St. Andrews, NB

Situated on Passamaquoddy Bay, St. Andrews, New Brunswick, is a picturesque town that looks much the way it did in the early 1900s. Founded largely by British Loyalists fleeing New England after the Revolutionary War, the quiet burg was mostly overlooked until the late 1890s, when well-heeled city dwellers flocked here to avoid the summer heat. Today St. Andrews is still small, but it preserves a cosmopolitan air thanks to the annual influx of summer residents and tourists from all over the world. Visitors to St. Andrews are pleased to find fine restaurants, world-class shops, vital scientific research facilities and important historical landmarks all within its quaint maritime environs.

The incredible tides in Passamaquoddy and the Bay of Fundy bring in literally tons of food, which in turn tends to attract tons of whales. A whale watching tour is a must – there are several available, in everything from one-person kayaks to schooners. Whales are the largest mammals on the planet, and the most common species in the Bay of Fundy are the Fin Whale, the Humpback Whale, the Minke Whale and the Right Whale.
