Waldhaus Restaurant

The Waldhaus is The Fairmont Banff Springs' 'House in the Forest'. The Bavarian Cottage-style building was established in 1927 which was once used as the Banff Springs Clubhouse and is set on the edge of the Golf Course and the Spray River.

The menu consists of authentic German and Swiss dishes such as venison baden-baden, Bavarian sampler plate, organic mache & watercress salad, organic beet salad, goulash soup, yellow split pea soup, swiss cheese fondue, truffle fondue, beef fondue, wiener schnitzel, pan seared duck breast, beer braised lamb shank, pan fried rainbow trout filets, porcini mushroom ravioli, chocolate fondue,  mini black forest cake and warm apple strudel.

Grapes Wine Bar

This quaint, cozy room was originally established in 1926 as a writing room and a place for people to come and gather their thoughts, share experiences and communicate with family and friends. Now treat yourself to a unique dinner experience at Grapes, our rustic Canadian wine bar and bistro. In an intimate setting, explore the exquisite flavours of fondues, patés, cheeses, salads and sumptuous daily specials.

Driving Directions

From Calgary International Airport

(about 1 hour 45 minutes):

  • Take Barlow Trail South to 16th Avenue
  • Go west (right) onto 16th Avenue
  • 16th Avenue becomes Trans-Canada Highway 1, which takes you right to Banff
  • You must stop at the National Park Gates to obtain your Park Pass
  • 15 minutes passed the park gates exit at the Banff/Lake Minnewanka exit.
  • At the stop sign turn left on Banff Ave.
  • Follow Banff Ave to the end and over a bridge.
  • After the bridge, turn left and stay in the left lane onto Spray Ave.
  • This street will take you directly to the front doors of the hotel
