The New England Aquarium is one of the most prominent and popular public aquariums in the United States. Founded in 1969 on Boston’s waterfront, the New England Aquarium is considered one of the first modern public aquariums and is credited with revolutionizing the modern aquarium experience for visitors through its emphasis on a more natural setting for aquatic life.
The recently expanded aquarium features 7,000 aquatic animals from around the world, making it a popular tourist attraction for Boston visitors. The four story giant ocean tank contains a re-created coral reef and is home to sharks, turtles and moray eels.
If the large tanks aren’t up close and personal enough for you, then the New England Aquarium Whale Watch is the thing to do! The tour runs from April through October, and tickets can be bought through the Concierge desk at The Fairmont Copley Plaza.
