Signature Suites

Since 1912, the Fairmont Copley Plaza has been at the heart of Boston's cultural community. To celebrate that heritage, the hotel has developed eight signature suites that celebrate the history and culture of Boston.  From visual and performance art to history and literature to technology and even to Boston's love affair with its sports teams, the new themed suites feature unique artwork specially designed for each suite. While all the suites are similar in terms of décor and furnishings, each features artwork and accoutrements that showcase each organization. The Fairmont Copley Plaza worked with the archivists, curators and historians at each organization and attraction; selecting, in many cases, images that intertwine with the history of the hotel.

John F. Kennedy Library and Museum Suite
The Fairmont Copley Plaza has always had strong ties to the Kennedy family. In fact, John 'Honey Fitz' Fitzgerald, former Mayor of Boston and grandfather of JFK, cut the ribbon on the hotel when it opened in 1912.   The hotel is honoring these ties with the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum suite, which features a collection powerful images that celebrate the public and private life of the late president and his family.

Museum of Science Suite
The Museum of Science suite's artwork includes historic photographs of the Junior Explorer's Club in 1937 and the original building that housed the Museum of Science in the Back Bay in the early 20th century, as well as more modern photography by Felice Frankel, a science photographer and research scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, whose visual representations of physical phenomena are intriguing and an excellent addition to the suite.

Boston Symphony Orchestra & Boston Pops Suites
The Fairmont Copley Plaza is the 'official hotel' of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops.  To recognize this partnership, the themed suites on Fairmont Gold appeal to both the eyes and ears of guests.  Highlights of the BSO suite include news clippings from the early 20th century, as well as images of the world famous Symphony Hall.  Artwork in the Boston Pops suite celebrates the history of America's Orchestra through its early days with Arthur Fielder to its time with John Williams and to its present with Keith Lockhart.  Both suites also feature collections of CDs from both orchestras.

Museum of Fine Arts Suite
The Fairmont Copley Plaza is built on the original site of the Museum of Fine Arts and the addition of this suite brings a piece of the art institution back to its roots. Guests can take a trip back in time and see the original museum building from the 1890s.   The suite also features reproductions of MFA Masterworks including a sculpture of Degas' Ballerina, John Singer Sargent watercolors and Claude Monet's Poppy Fields.

Freedom Trail Suite
Featuring a series of historic images that celebrate the birth of a nation, The Freedom Trail suite artwork includes the famous etching of the Boston Massacre designed to incite rebellion by Paul Revere, a map of Boston from 1722, an image of the Boston Common from 1844 and an image of the harbor from the Revolutionary War, as well as other historic images.

Boston Public Library Suite
The Fairmont Copley Plaza stands with the Boston Public Library as one of the architectural jewels of Copley Square.  With the Boston Public Library suite the hotel combines the library's beautiful interior, with images from its private collection.  Featured pictures include historic interiors, courtyard and exterior shots of the Boston Public Library, as well as a rendering of Copley Square from 1914, which includes the hotel.

Sports Museum Suite
The Sports Museum suite celebrates great moments in the city's sports history with original pieces of memorabilia.  Highlights of the suite include a championship Celtics banner and parquet flooring from the Boston Garden, a news clipping from 1918 for the Red Sox World Series victory that year and a black and white image of the first Boston Marathon.

Oak Bar

The Oak Bar has been recently restored and is reminiscent of a British Officer's Club in the Orient. The same dark wood paneling and mirrors that flank the Oak Room are offset in the Oak Bar by smooth marble.
