Texas BBQ Bonanza Cooking Class - May 17, 2008
May is "National BBQ Month". Barbeque is the most ancient cooking technique on earth. Evidence of barbeque pits has been found at sites dating back to 25,000 B.C. The techniques of barbecuing was passed from the Greeks via the Romans to the Saxons, but the quality and quanitity of barbeque escalated after the British came to the New World and discovered Native Americans barbequing game, lamb, fowl and fish. And, nothing spells Texas more than B-B-Q!
Learn how to BBQ ("Texas-style") ribs, sausage and brisket using a variety of woods to enhance the meats' flavor. You'll also learn how to create your own variety of sauces from smooth to zesty and sweet to en fuego.
Afterwards, saddle-up to a great lunch with all the fixin's (cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, corn bread)...mmm mmm good!
