THE FAIRMONT DALLAS ANNOUNCES $10 MILLION
Dallas Friday, February 01, 2013
The Fairmont Dallas announces a comprehensive renovation project totaling more than $10 million including guestrooms and public spaces. For over 43 years, The Fairmont Dallas has been a landmark in the thriving downtown area and one of the premier social and corporate meeting locations in the city.
The renovation will include enhancements to the hotel’s 545 guestrooms, including new furniture, fixtures and equipment. Flick Mars, a Dallas-based international interior design firm specializing in hospitality design, has been selected to coordinate the décor of the project. The firm will incorporate a modern décor for guestrooms and suites, including elegant new furniture and colorful artwork selected to reflect the hotel’s ideal Dallas Arts District location. The design palette will offer serene luxury and refined sophistication that leverages the hotel’s rich history and city center location while meeting the needs of today’s traveler.
The Pyramid Bar, located on the lobby level, will be renovated with new furniture and décor inspired by the arts, including custom pieces from participants of the hotel’s year-round Artist in Residence program. A vibrant, sleek design will resonate in the re-imagined bar space.
At The Fairmont Dallas’ front entrance, a special Living Wall will be installed featuring authentically local plants native to Texas. Designed by San Antonio-based Plant Interscapes, the Living Wall will help convert vehicle carbon emissions into oxygen for a cleaner, sustainable environment.
The hotel’s over 70,000 square feet of signature function and meeting space will receive enhancements as well. The project also includes upgrades to mechanical and electrical infrastructure, as well as heating ventilation & air-conditioning improvements.
“The projects currently underway and planned for The Fairmont Dallas are exciting and will enhance the hotel’s preeminent position in the marketplace,” said Michael Musarra, General Manager. “As the city continues to grow and develop as a destination of global interest, this investment in the hotel will ensure that The Fairmont Dallas will shine more brightly than ever.”
This renovation program will be thoughtfully phased to ensure that the overall guest experience is not impacted. The Fairmont Dallas will remain open throughout the project and the hotel anticipates completion by summer 2013.
The Fairmont Dallas is owned by Florida-based Inland American Lodging Group, Inc., which owns interests in 91 properties with over 16,000 rooms in the US. Flick Mars’ past design work has included projects for international hospitality brands including Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
