Fairmont Hamilton Princess Tour Take the self-guided tour around the Hamilton Princess. Our concierge will provide you with a copy to send you on your way and explain the history of our ‘Grande Dame’. Not to be missed is the heritage wall which provides a pictorial history located on the mezzanine level. This self-guided tour will take you approximately 45 minutes, if you have children in your party be sure to pick up some fish food to feed our koi on your way around.
Downtown Hamilton Take a five-minute stroll to the downtown City of Hamilton any Monday to Friday and glimpse Bermuda’s businessmen in their traditional suit of Bermuda shorts and blazers. Introduced with the military this look was adopted by Bermudians as a perfect solution to remaining cool while conducting business in warmer climes. The Bermuda National Gallery is located in City Hall and hosts a variety of lunchtime lecture series.
Royal Naval Dockyard Walk five minutes to the public ferry dock at Hamilton and take the direct “fast” ferry up to the Royal Naval Dockyard. The journey takes 30 minutes each way. Enter the Maritime Museum and visit the Commissioner’s House for a history of Bermuda’s maritime past.
For children and adults alike, take this opportunity to visit Dolphin Quest located in the Maritime Museum keep. There are a variety of programs available. Reservations are required in order to secure your place in advance.
Visit the Frog and Onion Pub located in an old 18th Century stone building at The Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda for British pub food. The Cooper's Room features a giant fireplace as its centerpiece and the back patio has an excellent view of The Historic Victualling Yard. Return by bus or take the ferry back, it’s a great way to view Bermuda from land and sea.
To enjoy each of the above components it is recommend that you extend this itinerary into a half-day excursion.
Afternoon Tea/Lunch at the Heritage Court Exhausted after all that activity, enjoy our world-famous afternoon tea, served daily in the Heritage Court from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m. The 'proper' way of 'taking tea' is to select from the assorted finger sandwiches. Scones with jam and Devonshire clotted cream are next, followed by a sweet selection of pastries.
Or if you fancy something savory, try our Bermuda Fish Chowder – considered Bermuda’a National dish. This hearty soup is elevated to a culinary art form as it is partnered with Black Rum and Sherry Peppers – perfection.
