 | | July 4th Special Event & Fireworks Display | Where should you go see the best fireworks displays in the San Francisco Bay Area? Fisherman's Wharf is San Francisco's premier spot to celebrate America's Independence Day holiday. Visitors can typically enjoy free, fabulous entertainment throughout the Wharf, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over San Francisco Bay.
Fisherman’s Wharf bay cruise operators generally offer several special cruises, providing visitors some of the best views of the celebration.
Our fireworks schedule of times has not been set yet, but they generally start when it gets dark, or around 9:15 or 9:30 p.m.

This family-friendly event features prominent local chefs creating chocolate inventions during cooking demonstrations, live musical entertainment, children’s activities, a Cost Plus Wine & Chocolate Bar and the popular “Earthquake” Ice Cream Sundae Eating Contest. All proceeds from the event are donated to Project Open Hand, a non-profit organization that provides food and compassion to people living HIV/AIDS, homebound and critically ill people, as well as seniors in San Francisco. For more information on Project Open Hand, visit www.openhand.org. In 2008 we raised over $60,000 for Project Open Hand, for a total 13-year total donation of over $500,000!
