Maui Dining Ko Restaurant: Wailea Food & Drink Fairmont

Mea ‘Ai a me Mea Inu (Food & Drink)

Maui is quickly becoming a word-class culinary destination. The island is home to a broad range of cuisines available everywhere from a fine dining restaurant to a beach-side food truck. Maui’s unique ingredients from local farmers, ranchers and fishermen result in fresh and creative options that can only found on the Valley Isle.

Looking for casual dining with a laid back atmosphere? Monkeypod Kitchen, with endless beer on tap, and Pita Paradise, with fresh fish caught daily, are both about 5 minutes from the hotel in The Wailea Gateway Center. Cafe ‘O Lei in Kihei has something for everyone with a large, quality menu and a sushi bar. Fabini’s in north Kihei is a casual Italian spot that offers both great pizza and prices.

If you’re celebrating a special occasion, you want a dining experience to remember. Consider Capiche? at Hotel Wailea for a quiet romantic dinner. 808 Bistro is also a great spot in Kihei where you can bring your own bottle of wine and watch the sunset. For a larger group dinner, Mala Ocean Tavern in Lahaina may be a good choice, or Hali’imaile upcountry.

Our top restaurants (Make reservations – we’re not the only people who think these are no ka oi!)

  • Mama’s Fish House – Offering locally-caught seafood with an unforgettable ambiance on the edge of the ocean. Go for lunch and really enjoy the view.
  • Kō- A top pick for guests and non-guests. Winner of Best Resort Restaurant on Maui, you don’t want to miss it. Try the fresh catch and the famed Oishi Sushi.
  • Sansei – Best sushi on the island. Period. Try the Panko Crusted Ahi Sashimi Sushi Roll and the Shrimp Dynamite.
  • Flatbread Pizza Co. – It’s not a five-star dining experience but it is the best pizza we’ve found yet. Great for families.

  • Shave Ice - In Hawai’i shave ice is food, and Local Boys has the best flavors on the south side. If you’re driving through Kahului, stop by Uilani’s on Dairy Road for the finest grade ice and homemade syrups. Tip – Get ice cream on the bottom and stick with tropical flavors…they’re always good anywhere you go.
  • Farmer’s Markets – Because of Maui’s diverse climates, local farmers grow everything from tropical fruits to fresh herbs to healthy vegetables. Explore one of Maui’s many farmer’s markets or check out the community swap meet on Saturday mornings at the University of Hawai’i, Maui College campus. For a $1 entry fee, you’ll find some of the best vendors on-island!
