The only accommodations of their kind on Maui, the exceptionally popular Villas at The Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea serve as an exclusive playground for families, celebrities, dignitaries and executives seeking luxury and seclusion. The spacious two story villas are set apart from the main hotel building and offer not only the comfort and convenience of renting a private Maui home, but also all the amenities associated with a world class resort.
Villas feature sophisticated renovations
Under the direction of Roger Gagon of Island Design Center, a locally based interiors firm, the villas have received a multi-million dollar make-over further maintaining the impeccable reputation distinguishing guests have come to expect from Hawaii’s only all-suite and villa luxury oceanfront resort. Spanning 1800 to 2200 square feet, these two and three bedroom havens feature an open floorplan with the kitchen, dining, and living rooms flowing together.
Villa kitchens feature stainless steel full sized appliances, rich walnut cabinets, granite countertops, and a reclaimed glass mosaic backsplash with hints of ocean, deep olives, and cream colors. The well-appointed kitchens are equipped with everything from place settings for eight, to blenders and rice cookers.
The comfortable dining area with versatile L-shaped banquette seating encourages gatherings and promotes entertaining without feeling crowded. The coordinating table features kirei board table top giving the appearance of crushed cane. Kirei board is manufactured from reclaimed sorghum straw and is an environmentally friendly substitute for wood. Suspended ivory blown glass pendants create soft and warm lighting throughout the dining room and living room.
The furnishings and décor of the living room continue a classic theme peppered with Hawaiian influences. The queen sleeper sofa, club chair and bamboo whicker side chair are rich in color and depth of hue evoking Hawaiian weaves and rhythms in the combination of fabrics. Sofa accent pillows create splashes of color with tide pool blue and lime green spicing up the room. Ottomans replace traditional coffee tables and present guests with an additional gathering area. The woven multi-colored Chilewich floor mat is a modern day interpretation of the Hawaiian lauhala mat. Gagon chose Italian porcelain flooring with a linear pattern discreetly holding the rooms together playing off the horizontal wood grain cabinets in the kitchen, woven naugahyde settee in the dining room, and linen weave window treatments in the living room. Amenities include full entertainment systems with 42” HD flat panel televisions, DVD/CD/AM-FM Radio with iPod/MP3 player capabilities, On Command movies, Nintendo Wii, various board games and wireless high speed Internet access.
The comfortably enticing beds are certainly the centerpiece of the villa bedroom. New bedskirts, throws, and bolsters in warm green hues, accentuate the luxurious 310 thread count white Frette bed linens giving the bedrooms an inviting feel. Alarm clock/iPod media stations and 37” flat panel HD televisions are standard in each bedroom.
All 37 villas boast two expansive marble bathrooms each with deep soaking tubs, open showers, and double pedestal sinks. The darker painted accent walls complement the lighter colored marble, newly framed mirrors, and lamps with woven grass cloth shades.
Hawaiian artwork used throughout the villas are triptychs by acclaimed artist Darryl Hill. Considered one of the finest impressionists alive today, Hill’s “Song of Seclusion,” “Paradise Heritage,” and “Island Interludes” are colorful and bold paintings of his Hawaiian surroundings.
