What is the weather like in Telluride?
Winter temperatures can be low and snowfall generous, but plentiful sunny days make for cool, mild, weather.  In the summer, expect daytime temperatures in the 70s, brief afternoon showers, abundant sunshine, and cool evenings.

What is the relationship between Telluride and Mountain Village?
The historic town of Telluride is located in a box canyon, surrounded by 14,000 foot peaks.  Mountain Village is a pedestrian enclave just across the mountain, at the base of the ski area near the golf course.  Telluride and Mountain Village are connected by a scenic 12-minute complimentary gondola ride.

What is a gondola and when is it open?
The only transportation system of its kind in North America, the gondola features cars that travel via cables up and across the mountain between Telluride and Mountain Village.  It is both handicapped and pet accessible and is free to pedestrians.

The gondola operates from 7 a.m. to midnight daily in the summer and winter seasons. 

Where is Telluride located?
Located on the scenic San Juan Skyway in the heart of Southwest Colorado's San Juan Mountains, Telluride and Mountain Village are 67 miles south of Montrose, 127 miles south of Grand Junction, 125 miles northwest of Durango, 7 hours hours from Denver, 9 from Phoenix, and 6 from Albuquerque. 

Which airport should I fly into?
The Fairmont Heritage Place, Franz Klammer Lodge provides complimentary transportation from the Telluride Regional Airport (TEX - 5.5 miles) and the Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ - 67 miles).

How should I get from the airport to the Lodge?
The Fairmont Heritage Place Franz Klammer Lodge provides complimentary transportation from both Telluride and Montrose airports.

Will I need a car while I'm in Telluride?
Complimentary gondola transportation provides access to dining, shopping, hiking, and more, and pedestrian friendly streets make Telluride and Mountain Village easy to navigate without a car.  Renting a car is recommended if you would like to take day trips to explore the region.

What are the restaurants like?
Telluride offers a wide array of dining possibilities, from upscale restaurants to more casual fare.  With sushi, Italian, creative American, steak and seafood, French, pan-Asian, Thai, Chinese, pizza, microbreweries, and a plethora of fine dining, Telluride has something to offer every palette.

What are the ski conditions like?

Are there winter activities besides skiing?
Our pre-arrival itinerary planning and Concierge staff can help you arrange activities, including snowmobiling, dogsled tours, snowshoe hikes, and ice-skating. 

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 4:30 p.m. and check-out is at 10:00 a.m.

Is there a grocery store nearby?
A short, five-minute ride on the complimentary gondola will take you directly to The Market at Mountain Village.  Pre-arrival grocery shopping service is also available.

Will I receive daily housekeeping?
Yes.  Daily housekeeping is included with all rentals.

Do you allow pets?
We do have a limited number of pet-friendly residences, which allow dogs only.  Please contact us directly at (888) 728-0355 for availability of pet residences.  A nightly pet fee of $20 applies.

Does the property have any meeting space?
The Fairmont Heritage Place, Franz Klammer Lodge is able to host small meetings and events in our Alta Room, which can accommodate up to 18 people seated and can be set up according to guest specifications.  The adjoining Alta Deck offers spectacular views of the Village and surrounding mountains.  The Lodge is also located adjacent to the Telluride Conference Center.
