Telluride is the ideal base to explore the Southwest region.  National Parks Mesa Verde, Arches, and Canyonlands are within a few hours drive.  You can also explore many regional attractions such as jeep tours to ghost towns and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, which connect the area to its rich mining heritage.

Recognized as a top ski area in North America, the Telluride Ski Resort offers excellent terrain in a spectacular setting.  With 92 trails evenly distributed between beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and ski lessons available for all ages, Telluride's ski mountain is truly an adventure for the whole family.  Other winter activities abound, including snowmobiling, dogsled tours, ice skating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and more.

Locals say they came for the winter but stayed for the summers, and it's easy to see why.  With warm sunshine, cool breezes, and a host of opportunities to explore the outdoors, Telluride is the perfect spot for a summer vacation.  The Fairmont Heritage Place, Franz Klammer Lodge is located just steps away from the 18-hole, semi-private Telluride Golf Course.  Other summer sports include whitewater rafting or kayaking on the San Miguel River, rock climbing, horseback riding, jeep tours, fly fishing, and mountain biking.  Hiking trails cover the area, providing the perfect opportunity for viewing waterfalls and abundant wildflowers.  Telluride also plays host a wide variety of outdoor festivals.  For music enthusiasts, the Bluegrass, Jazz, and Blues and Brews festivals offer some of the best music in the country.  Food aficionados will enjoy the Wine and Culinary Arts festivals, while moviegoers can get a sneak peek at world premieres during Film Festival and Mountain Film.
