Three Day Summer Itinerary

  • Activities in Lake Louise | The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Day 1

Have you ever wanted to walk into a postcard? This is your chance! Stroll into the picture perfect image of the Lake Louise shoreline walk. Once at the end of the lake you may spot rock climbers, ground squirrels, marmots or even spot a mountain goat high on the sheer cliffs of Mt. Fairview. This walk is suitable for all ages and abilities.  See the Concierge for a Trails Map and History brochure before you start your walk. Distance: 4km/ 2.4mi 1.5-hours round trip.

Experience the panoramic splendour of Lake Louise! Surrounded by majestic peaks and glaciers, Lake Louise is truly a special place to experience the beauty of the Canadian Rockies… and what better way to capture the spectacular view than from 1,600 feet above the valley on a Gondola tour. Once aboard you will have an approximate fourteen-minute ride up the mountain, while you enjoy hills of wild flowers, natural springs and possibly even some wildlife. Make sure to bring your camera, as you will have a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Louise and surrounding area. Enjoy various snacks and beverages at the lodge while viewing Mount Fairview, Mount Lefroy, Temple Mountain and many other mountain ranges. There is a complimentary shuttle service to and from the Lake Louise Gondola from our resort. Gondola Tours operate daily from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Day 2

Come and experience a feel of the Wild West on horseback with nothing but breathtaking scenery for the entire ride. Located on the grounds of The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Brewster Stables offer a variety of horseback rides for novices to the most experienced rider.

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is more than a grand hotel.  Since 1890, it has played a considerable role in the colourful history of Canada's mountain west.  We continue to share the rich Heritage of this national icon with a Historical Hotel tour offered daily.

Swing through the doors for a footloose and fancy-free taste of the “Wild West” of yester-year.  Sit back and enjoy a cold drink, shoot a game of pool, listen to the music or get out on the dance floor, the Glacier Saloon is a great place for après-ski cocktails, casual pub meals, light snacks and of course nightcaps.

Day 3

Start your day off with the Sunrise Canoe Experience, arriving just before 5:30 am; guests are given coffee, tea and a muffin before heading out on Lake Louise to enjoy the spectacular sunrise.

Lake Agnes hiking trail is one of the most popular in the Banff National Park for one good reason: The first switch back lets you look down on the turquoise waters of Lake Louise. Continuing upward, you pass Mirror Lake tucked under the shear cliffs of the Big Beehive. At the Tea House you can enjoy a tasty treat and beverage all the while enjoying the breathtaking backdrop.
