Mountain Heritage Guide - Winter Program

Icefalls of Johnston Canyon
Marvel at stilled waterfalls and dazzling pillars of blue as you explore the surprising magic of this winter wonderland.  Our day begins with a 30 min. drive to the trail head located on the scenic Bow Valley Parkway.  After donning special “ice cleats” we journey up the canyon on numerous suspended catwalks.  Equipment is included: Ice Cleats, Poles.

Time: 8:30am – 12:30pm

Powderfest Snowshoeing!
If you can walk, you can snowshoe!  After gearing up and having a brief introduction on the basics, we will venture into the forest and look for signs of creatures that have adapted to the harsh winter conditions.  Equipment is included: Snowshoes, Poles.
Departures: Daily
Time: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Lake Louise After Dark
Secret spots and unique discoveries await us after dark.  Journey into the woods on snowshoes and enter a world of stillness and mystery.  If the skies are clear, we will take the time to learn some of the great constellations that wheel overhead: Cassiopeia, the Great Bear and Orion the Hunter.  Equipment is included: Snowshoes, Poles, Head Lamps.

Cross Country Ski Lessons
Imagine yourself gliding along a quiet forest trail surrounded by mountains blanketed in snow. Before you hit the trails, take a lesson to fine-tune your skiing abilities. Instructors are certified through the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors and will happily tailor individual and group lessons for those who have never been on cross-country skis, as well as for advanced skiers seeking to improve their technique. Equipment is not included. Guests must have their own or obtain gear from the rental shop.

Time: 9:00am – 10:30am & 11:00am – 12:30pm

Cross Country Ski Tours
Enjoy endless groomed trails and fresh mountain air as you glide with a guide along some of the most enchanting ski trails in Canada. The tour provides a perfect opportunity to improve your skiing technique and bolster your confidence while you discover Lake Louise’s winter marvels. Previous ski experience required. Equipment is not included. Guests must have their own or obtain gear from the rental shop.
