Recreation
The Riviera Maya offers guests an exceptional selection of Cancun activities and excursions within 15-, 45- and 90-minutes of the hotel. Area attractions include the neighboring village of Playa del Carmen with its '5th Avenue' boutique shopping, unique handicrafts, restaurants and nightlife; the acclaimed Xcaret wildlife and nature reserve (20-minute drive); and the sunlit ferry ride to Cozumel (15-minute drive + 35-minute ferry ride).
Planners can easily offer groups a wide variety of options, from the teambuilding adventure of riding a zip line through the jungle or 'cenote' (natural pools, wells and caverns) diving, to the creative inspiration of art gallery tours. Beach horseback riding excursions are popular at nearby Loma Bonita, while every conceivable water sport is offered along Playa del Carmen's easily accessible string of main beaches including Playa Mamitas.
Created to harmonize with the unspoiled tropical forest of Cancun, Fairmont Mayakoba's various areas are connected by a series of deep lagoons enabling easy movement from place to place throughout the resort development using complimentary 'lanchas', a covered canal boat service, as well as a network of well-marked nature trails. Environmentally friendly electric golf carts and bicycles are also available throughout the property.
