The Peace Hall on the eighth floor reassumes its early 20th century status as Shanghai’s most famous ballroom. The restored hall is adorned with art deco detailing, crystal chandeliers and a 6.5-metre-high ceiling. Its original sprung white maple dance floor has also been returned to a high polish. The 540-square-meter Peace Hall is a stunning venue for banquets and cocktails for 300 people (reception), 300 people (banquet) and 200 people (reception plus banquet).
Sharing the eighth floor with the Peace Hall are three multi-functional, classically styled salons for more intimate soirees. Each is named after a seminal year in the hotel’s history. Salon 1929 – the founding year of the Cathay Hotel, the precursor to the Peace Hotel – is 30 square meters, ideal for boardroom meetings or banquets for up to eight people. Salon 1956 – commemorating the year the Cathay Hotel was renamed the Peace Hotel – is 35 square meters and hosts receptions for 20 people and banquets for up to 12 people. Salon 2010 – the opening of the revived Fairmont Peace Hotel – covers 90 square meters and can be used as a classroom, theatre, boardroom or banquet hall for between 30 and 50 people.

The Nine Heaven on the 11th floor embraces sweeping views across the stunning skyline of Pudong and the magnificence of Huangpu River. On the hotel's Mezzanine Level, the Fairmont Peace Hotel has re-opened the floor's largest function room, Chun Shen, which is the original name for the Huangpu River. The 215-square-metre space is flooded with natural light and has been immaculately designed to complement the Art Deco style of the Fairmont Peace Hotel, with wood panelling lining the walls and original cast-iron windows that offer a compelling view of the Bund that will lend any event a sense of excitement and prestige. The room comfortably sits up to 100 people if furnished with round tables and 160 if laid out as a theatre.
To the west of Chun Shen on the Mezzanine Level there is the new Thames Room, a magnificent 110-square-metre space overlooking historic Dian Chi Road with additional views of the Huangpu River. Blending the Fairmont Peace Hotel’s opulent design with all modern corporate comforts and amenities, the Thames Room sits up to 50 people when furnished with round tables.
The rooftop is the ideal area for exclusive occasions from wedding ceremonies to corporate launches. Following the Fairmont Peace Hotel’s distinctive A-shape design, the eleventh-floor space has a total area of more than 1,000 square metres, making it suitable for parties of up to 800 people. The view is one of the finest in Shanghai, looking out on three sides over the Huangpu River and across the water to the incredible skyline of Pudong. The space can be catered with a full buffet or a cocktail bar, and up to 20 round tables can be set up, making it ideal for an awe-inspiring wedding or social gathering. Corporate events can use the rooftop to set themselves against the most iconic sites of Shanghai.
The 35-square-metre Scotland Room is another hidden space and certainly one of the most unique private dining areas in Shanghai.
The England Room is a 25-square-metre space with high ceilings and the traditional decoration of a British gentleman’s club. It is entirely secluded in the center of the rooftop and would make a magical location for exclusive events and intimate dinners. This room was originally designed for private dining when the Peace Hotel first opened its doors and has been named in honour of the British founder of the hotel, Sir Victor Sassoon.
