Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Expands Footprint in India

TORONTO, February 18, 2009 – Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced its first project in India, Fairmont Jaipur. Scheduled to open in 2012, the hotel is located in northwest Rajasthan in India’s famed “Pink City” of Jaipur and joins the brand’s expanding collection of international addresses. The building’s design will reflect the city’s rich cultural heritage and will be located not far from the Amber Fort, one of the area’s major landmarks.
With 199 spacious and luxurious guestrooms, nine 1- and 2-bedroom villas as well as a Presidential Suite, the hotel is ideally situated within India’s “Golden Triangle” and sits amongst dazzling palaces and forts. Rooms will be decorated in a modern, sophisticated style that reflects the rich, cultural characteristics of the area. Spacious and well-appointed, each room boasts luxurious touches such as Bose sound systems, 40” flat screen televisions, pillow top mattresses with plush linens and duvets as well as oversize ensuites with luxurious soaker tubs and separate showers. The brand’s exclusive Fairmont Gold product, a hotel within a hotel concept with 38 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and private lounge facilities, will make its debut in the market as well.
Tempting hotel guests will be a broad range of culinary options, including a specialty restaurant featuring regional cuisine, lobby bar serving traditional Indian tea, cigar lounge, rooftop bar and a casual all day dining venue. Additionally, 24-hour in-room dining will be available as well as a pool side bar which serves alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages for guests opting to spend the day by the pool.
For those seeking to wind down after a day of meetings or sight-seeing, Fairmont’s award-winning Willow Stream Spa will provide over 14,000 square feet of space in which to enjoy unique international and Indian treatments as well as a 5,000 square foot health club.
To accommodate the area’s growing meetings market, the hotel will offer over 45,000 square feet of meeting space as well as gardens that can host over 1,000 guests, perfect for business functions or weddings.
