Beauty and The Bees
In an effort to preserve indigenous wildlife, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth partnered with the Ecomuseum and sponsored five “beauties” residing at this local zoo – a Snowy owl, a gray wolf, a lynx, an Arctic fox and a great horned owl. The hotel is as well committed to protect local bee populations and has established a bee apiary on property next to its organic garden. The honey produced on-site by the hotel’s beekeepers is used for afternoon tea and sold to guests on property. The herbs and vegetables grown by the chefs are used daily in season at Le Montréalais restaurant.
Located only 30 minutes from downtown Montreal, the Ecomuseum is a unique place where everyone can rediscover the pleasures of living in harmony with nature. The zoo is host to more than 115 indigenous species typical of Quebec. The Ecomuseum is a not-for-profit organization operated by the St.Lawrence Valley Natural History Society. It is committed to environmental education and establishing sustainable relationships with community members that have a stake in the preservation of the ecosystems of the Saint-Lawrence Valley.
