Grantley Adams International Airport; (BGI) is located 12 miles (17 km) east of Bridgetown, near Christ Church

  • Barbados is served by Air Canada (AC), Air Jamaica (JM), American Airlines (AA), British Airways (BA), British West Indian Airlines (BWIA), Canadian Airlines, US Airways, Delta Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.    
  • Airport porters charge $2.00 Barbados per bag for transporting luggage to the street, outside of the customs terminal.    
  • Facilities in the airport include a bank, bar and restaurant.    
  • Duty free: There is an incoming duty-free shop that is open for most international flights. The outgoing duty-free shops offer jewelry, perfumes, china, crystal, cameras, shoes and clothing.

  • From Miami -- 3.5 hours         
  • From New York City -- 5 hours         
  • From London, UK -- 7.5 hours

    Getting From the Airport to the Resort
    There is no complimentary airport shuttle. The hotel can arrange either luxury car transfers or limousine transfers - further details follow. Guests may choose from the following transportation options to travel from the airport to the resort:
    • Bus:
      • There is a regular bus service (departs every 10 minutes) from the airport to the city.  
      • Travel time via bus is approximately 45 minutes.  
      • Rates: $1.50 Barbados Dollars 
    • Taxi: 
      • There is 24-hour taxi service readily available at the airport.  
      • Travel time via taxi is approximately 45 minutes.  
      • Rates: Approximately BDS$90 (US$45). 
    • Luxury Car: 
      • Rates: approximately US$105, one-way between hotel and airport or US$150 round trip.  
      • Must be reserved at least 48 hours in advance.

    • Limousine:

    Rental Cars

    • Barbados has a good network of roads that cover the entire island. Traffic drives on the left.    
    • The speed limit is 60 km/hr (37 mph).     
    • Guests should make arrangements for a rental car through the Concierge in advance.    
    • Anything from a mini-moke to a Mercedes may be hired.     
    • Cars may be hired by the day or week.    
    • If you plan to drive a car yourself, a Barbados driving permit is required.     
    • There is a registration fee of $100.00 (Barbados Dollars).    
    • A valid national license or an International Driving Permit is also required.         
    • Permits can be obtained from:
      • Car hire companies    
      • The Ministry of Transport (Mon to Fri: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)    
      • The airport (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., daily)    
      • Police stations in Hastings, Worthing and Holetown 
    • Rates to rent a car start at about $83 USD per day or $225 USD per week.

    Ocean Travel

    • Barbados has an international deep-water harbor at Bridgetown. It is a port of call for a number of British, European and American cruise lines.
