It is the 3rd time we stayed at Fairmont Grand del Mar, and each time has been impressive. My kids, husband, and I love the property, activities, food, pool, room, and the wonderful staff.
Prefer to keep PRIVATE This was truly 5 stars plus (more like 10 stars): Addison's: celebrated a special birthday and a great experience: worthy of 3 star Michelin rating Golf: staff were exceptionally attentive to guest, including for rental clubs providing new glove and 2 sleeves of balls. Incredible course and for me top 3 ever played Concierge services: before, during and after stay very insightful for local area attractions especially a blond haired female who helped while on-site. Not to mention birthday card/treats. OUTSTANDING Afternoon Tea: great experience and very kind and attentive waiter Administratively, here's where the ball was dropped and very disappointing and poor performance: Deposit: I booked trip 11/28/2023 for 2 parties/rooms but no deposit taken, then called back 1/5/2024 making inquiry until finally charged. made request at time of booking to charge my credit card for both rooms/stays including deposits. Upon checking in, reminded front desk that to charge my card for both rooms because we were celebrating a birthday for my son and we were taking care of his bill. I had to make inquiry at time of check-out about his charges, only to find-out his credit card was taken at check in (furious when I learned this and let staff know) and he was charged for all charges. It took accounting to reverse charge. Not what I expect from 5 star resort: UNACCEPTABLE Sweatshirt left: When we learned my wife left a sweatshirt, lost and found would ship: I specifically requested US Post Office not priority shipping back to us, especially because will be charged. "Ok". No one indicated only send Fed Ex. Then, received e-mail send Fed Ex Ground with confirmation #. E-mail: 4/10/2024. Package did not arrive when we got home 4/15 and I dispatched an e-mail indicating that. Package did arrive 4/16. Charged 4/9 $28.44 on cc. That seems to be the price for next day delivery and excessive and not how I thought would be sent. 2 e-mails sent yesterday and no response. I indicated would note on this survey. Unfortunately for Fairmont, we maybe considering wedding plans in the future and if the above administrative issues did not happen, it would have been a great destination event to plan at Grand Mar. We have stayed at many 5 star resorts (Ritz Carlton/Four Seasons) that were much better at attention to detail.

Spent 5 nights ... - didn't golf - didn't spa - didn't pickle ball Walked Swam Ate and Cocktailed Swam and .... RELAXED!! A fantastic 5 nights.

We stayed five nights. Thought we had some flaws. First, we tried to attend a baseball game. Staff never told us tickets could not be purchased after 6th inning when we tried to go late from golfing. We drove Al that way. Second, we had an issue with golf where the caddy was a third party and asked to follow us to resort for cash payment vs charge to room. I asked a GM to follow up I never received any follow up besides the golf shop. In addition I copied Diana Cortese with no reply or follow up.
Nice room with very nice, luxurious bathroom and quiet veranda space with well landscaped grounds. Enjoyed the hotel decor and activities which included archery, feeding horses, walking the grounds and lawn games/outdoor living areas.
It was a work trip, but your beautiful facility made it feel like a vacation.

Beautiful guest rooms. The property was perfectly maintained. It is a bit secluded, not close to any shopping or restaurants. On ground restaurant- Addison was fabulous.
