Artist In Residence Program
San Francisco, CA, June 24, 2013
This summer, The Fairmont San Francisco will salute the city’s sizzling art scene by launching its first ever Artist-in-Residence program featuring local artist John Waguespack and offering experiential art packages and promotions to please every palate.
Guests can observe the artist in action when The Fairmont San Francisco transforms its classic lobby into a working studio for John Waguespack July 12 through 14. A rising star in the contemporary art world, Waguespack represented San Francisco in a national competition sponsored by music magnate Russell Simmons at Scope Art Basel Miami in 2012.
In addition to interacting with the artist, visitors can view Waguespack's latest works including Novum Aurora, which was inspired by The Fairmont’s Roof Garden. Vivid in color and monumental in scale, the painting mixes abstract expressionism and linear styles to convey a message of hope. One of the pieces from the exhibition will become part of the hotel’s permanent collection. For more information about John Waguespack, please visit www.johnwaguespack.com.
"We want to support the tremendous talent within our community and make art accessible to visiting guests and local residents. We are delighted to partner with John Waguespack, whose art represents the innovative spirit of the region," comments Tom Klein, Regional Vice President and General Manager of The Fairmont San Francisco.
The hotel will further engage the senses by offering “The Pairing of Fine Art and Wine” July 12 from 5:00 to 7:00pm and “The Art of Afternoon Tea” on July 13 and 14 from 1:30 to 3:30pm in Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar.
