The Fairmont Olympic Hotel Continues to Set the Standard with 24th Consecutive AAA Five Diamond Award

Only Property in Pacific Northwest Region to Remain on the Elite List

(SEATTLE, WA) November 9, 2007 — AAA announced that The Fairmont Olympic Hotel received its 24th consecutive AAA Five Diamond award for 2008, recognizing the hotel for the best in luxurious service, décor and amenities. The Fairmont Olympic is the only hotel in the four-state Pacific Northwest to receive this prestigious award and is one of five elite hotels in the United States to make the AAA Five Diamond list for 24 or more consecutive years.

Representing the upper echelon of the hospitality industry, AAA Five Diamond Award® winners make up just 0.27 percent of the 60,000 Diamond Rated® lodgings and restaurants throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. For 2008, eight hotels made their first appearance on the list, including The Fairmont Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess was also awarded its 17th consecutive AAA Five Diamond award.

To be considered for AAA rating and approval, restaurants and lodgings must undergo a thorough, unannounced annual inspection by one of AAA’s 65 full-time, trained, professional evaluators. Five Diamond establishments receive more extensive inspections and must meet AAA’s highest rating standards, reflecting the ultimate in luxury and sophistication, and are subject to final review by a special Five Diamond committee.

The Fairmont Olympic received the prestigious Mobile 4 Star Award, earned by only 117 hotels in the country.  Two of the most influential travel and lifestyle publications in the world also recently voted The Fairmont Olympic Hotel to its annual awards. The hotel was recognized as the Best Business Hotel in Seattle in Travel + Leisure’s 2007 "World’s Best Business Hotels” award. Condé Nast Traveler’s 2007 "Reader’s Choice Awards” also recognized The Fairmont Olympic Hotel as best hotel in Washington and the 77th best hotel in the world.
