Big Points and a Bright Star - Michelin and Zagat Place Santé on Top
Sonoma Tuesday, November 01, 2011
Santé, the fine dining room at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, has again been graced with a coveted Michelin star and lauded Zagat accolades. These revered reviews were shared a few weeks ago in the new Michelin San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country and Zagat Guides 2012. Long considered among the most prestigious accolades in chefdom, Michelin named Santé among an elite group of just 47 Bay Area restaurants as the best of the best. To evaluate restaurants included in the prominent guide, Michelin inspectors anonymously visit each establishment, provide objective assessments and judge on five criteria: the quality of products used, the mastering of flavors and cooking, the "personality" of the cuisine, and the value and the consistency of dishes prepared. Rigorous Michelin Guide selection processes are applied independently and consistently worldwide, the Michelin Guide has become an international benchmark in gourmet dining. The San Francisco Michelin 2012 shares, “……….each dish is refined and focused on presenting a high level of sophistication, as haute techniques meet high-end ingredients….descriptions are exacting in their ability to convey the many harmonious components of each plate……….” Zagat's trusted ratings and reviews for area restaurants are based upon guest opinions. The trademark reviews and corresponding ratings for food, décor, service and cost are based on a scale of 1 to 30. Under the auspices of Chef de Cuisine Andrew Cain, Santé jumped a giant three points over last year's (2011) ratings. Zagat boasts, “ this is a class act…which ups the ante with ‘amazing’ but ‘nonfussy’ Cal-French cuisine….prepared with real dedication…polite service suits the ‘exclusive atmosphere’……definitely an occasion to splurge and enjoy.” Santé has earned a national reputation for outstanding food. Literally meaning “to your health,” the restaurant is a celebration of innovative California cuisine and good taste. Guests enjoy a seasonal menu, in a warm and casual yet stylish setting. Designed to exude the California wine country experience the inspired menu showcases the region’s abundant local products and world-famous wines. Executive Chef Bruno Tison and Chef de Cuisine Andrew Cain remain committed to sourcing ingredients locally and organically. The restaurant's Sonoma-centric wine list features boutique and limited production varietals. The acclaimed dining room is also a recipient of multiple other designations including those bestowed by Wine Spectator, AAA Four Diamond and the SF Chronicle Top 100.
