Wedding License Requirements in Bermuda Visitors who wish to come to Bermuda to be married must have their 'Notice of Intended Marriage' published in the Bermuda newspapers. The cost of which is included in the $243.00 charge which is outlined below. Only those British subjects resident in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who intend to marry a British subject resident in Bermuda, and for whom banns are called in their normal place of worship in the United Kingdom, can also have their banns called in the church where the marriage is intended to take place.
No blood tests or health certificates are required. Copies of the original final divorce decrees must accompany the Notice of Intended Marriage form for all divorced persons wishing to be married in Bermuda.
Notice to the Registrar General - notice may be given to the Registrar General, who is located in the Government Administration Building, 30 Parliament Street, Hamilton telephone number (441) 295-5151 or fax number (441) 292-4568, by either of the parties personally or by mail.
A Notice of Intended Marriage form must be completed (including full name and residential address) and should be accompanied by the fee of $243.00 Bermuda or U.S. Dollars (payable by bank draft or International Money Order) made payable to the Accountant General, Hamilton, Bermuda. Personal cheques are not accepted. Airmail to Bermuda often takes from 6-10 days from the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
Notice of Intended Marriage forms may be obtained from our overseas Bermuda Department of Tourism offices and the Office of the Registrar General in Bermuda, or, upon request, we will send you the forms.
This notice is published by the Registry staff in two of the local newspapers. A period of 14 days must elapse from the date of receipt of the notice by the Registry before the Registrar General may issue the license to marry. Parties to the intended marriage are not required to be resident during this time. the license to marry may be issued on or after the 15th day provided no formal objection has been raised to the intended marriage. The license to marry must be issued within three months of the receipt of the notice by the Registrar General and remains valid for three months from the date of issue.
