Steveston Fishing Village
Charming and quaint, the historic fishing village of Steveston is a relaxing family-oriented community. The area is rich in culture, and is best experienced on foot or on bikes. It can be easily reached via a 20-minute taxi ride from The Fairmont Vancouver Airport.

The village is great for shopping, featuring antique stores, trendy boutiques, art galleries, gardening stores and more. All stores as centrally located, providing shoppers with an easy stroll through the heart of the village.

Begin at The Gulf of Georgia Cannery – one of the few remaining 19th century salmon canneries on British Columbia’s West Coast, the Cannery commemorates the development of BC’s fishing industry. Situated atop wooden pilings over the Fraser River, the museum offers interactive displays and artifacts detailing the days when the Cannery was the largest producer of canned salmon in BC.

A 10-minute walk will take you to Steveston Seabreeze Adventures. Bikes and helmets are available for rent, which allow you to explore more of the area in a shorter time. Our suggestion is to ride along the scenic dyke trail that follows the Fraser River, which is easily accessible from the bike shop. If biking isn’t for you, consider taking a walk through Garry Point Park. This riverside park features easy walking trails, picnic areas and benches strategically placed at the best viewpoints.

After an afternoon of movement, time to unwind! Head to central Steveston for a relaxing lunch in one of the village’s many restaurants and cafés. The cultural diversity of the area is reflected in the available dining options – selections range from Japanese, to Italian, to fresh flavours of the Pacific Northwest.

Whale Watching
A 20-minute taxi ride from The Fairmont Vancouver Airport will take you to the historic fishing village of Steveston. Once in Steveston, choose your adventure for the day! Steveston Seabreeze Adventures offers Whale Watching and Ecotours in 3-5 hour excursions. With the natural beauty of the Southern Gulf Islands and the Georgia Strait as a panoramic backdrop, marvel at the sight of majestic whales in their natural habitat. You’ll have the opportunity to see Orcas, Dolphins, and Humpback Whales, as well as seals, sea lions and eagles. Lunch is offered on some tours, however our culinary team would be pleased to prepare a picnic lunch for you!

An Afternoon of Golf
Situated on the delta of the Fraser River, the natural landscape of Richmond boasts ample opportunities for golf enthusiasts. Our suggestion is Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club – located 10 minutes from The Fairmont Vancouver Airport, this 18 hole course is known for fast, well-protected greens, lush fairways and a distinctive layout which offers a unique challenge on every hole. Afterwards head to the Lakeside Grill, located at the country club, to replay the highlights of the game over a beer & nachos.
