An Afternoon of Ettiquette For Young Ladies and Gentlemen The Fairmont Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce “An Afternoon Etiquette” for young ladies and gentlemen. This upbeat class teaches children, ages 7 – 12, the importance of feeling good about themselves in a variety of social situations. Washington, D.C. Protocol Expert Carole M. Randolph teaches the first “Afternoon of Etiquette” class on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Learning to become the perfect, relaxed hosts and hostesses is essential for children who are growing up in the Washington Metropolitan area. The class includes telephone and e-mail etiquette, thank you note writing, going through a receiving line, the art of small talk, everyday courtesies and how to make a toast. Ms. Randolph will also provide guidance on how to enjoy a multi-course American meal using the correct silverware and perfect to these future doctors, lawyers, politicians and ambassadors. Each “Afternoon of Etiquette” class concludes with a presentation of an etiquette booklet and a gift to each student by Ms. Randolph. Tickled Pink, IX The Fairmont Washington D.C., located at 2401 M Street, N.W., is pleased to announce “Tickled Pink, IX” the hotel’s ninth annual mother-daughter fashion show and tea benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic. The Fairmont has once again partnered with Pink Palm at Bethesda Row, a Lilly Pulitzer® Signature Store, to provide the latest in spring and summer fashions. The event takes place on Saturday, May 12, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the hotel’s Colonnade Room.
Celebrity and model mother-daughter duos will don the latest “Lilly” spring and summer fashions. CBS Anchor Lesli Foster with daughter Jordon and NBC Anchor Eun Yang with daughter Carys; are just some of the celebrity models taking to the Fairmont runway to help support wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. WTOP Radio’s Man About Town - Bob Madigan will once again serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
While indulging a passion for these unique and brightly colored Lilly Pulitzer® fashions that have been warm weather chic ever since Jackie Kennedy slipped one on in the 1960s, guests will enjoy a lavish tea that, like Lilly, is both classic and new. Fairmont’s culinary team will serve mainstays like watercress, salmon and egg salad sandwiches, and homemade scones with lemon curd and real Devonshire cream, alongside kid-pleasing peanut butter and jam. The sweet tray will be rounded out with everything from herbal tea cookies to berry tartlets and mini chocolate chip cookies. For an added touch of sparkle, alongside Fairmont’s signature Metropolitan Tea blends, butlers will be passing Kir Royales and Mimosas.
Come dressed for the occasion - prizes will be awarded for the best “vintage Lilly” and a silent auction will feature numerous luxuries including weekend get-a-ways at several Fairmont Hotels. Guests will receive take-home Lilly goodie bags courtesy of Lizanne Jeveret of Pink Palm at Bethesda Row, and complimentary valet parking will be provided. Tickets for the Tickled Pink Tea are $75 per adult and $25 for children 16 and under. 100% of the proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, a nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic grants wishes to children in the Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia areas.
