Not only did he abolish the legal institution of slavery but he also united the Northern and South States to reconcile the Union and preserve the U.S. Constitution. The Lincoln Memorial sits at one end of the National Mall in Washington DC, overlooking the Washington Monument.
The Lincoln Memorial is open to the public free-of-charge 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Park rangers are available to answer questions from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., daily. |
