World Wildlife Fund and Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown Join Forces with Neighborhood School

On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown will join forces for the eleventh consecutive year to help students at School Without Walls at Francis-Stevens learn about plants and gardening in honor of Earth Day – RAIN OR SHINE!!!
Beginning at 9:00 a.m.., staff members from WWF and Fairmont, will come equipped with plants, trees, flowers, gardening tools and gloves to meet science students at the Francis-Stevens Education Campus. Students, teachers, WWF and Fairmont staff members will help clean the school grounds, before they begin planting new gardens. The project, which celebrates Earth Day, April 22nd, takes place on April 22nd, is the eleventh time that the school, WWF and Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown have teamed up to make their city block even more beautiful, it is also the 44rd anniversary of Earth Day. Planting materials have been generously provided by David Lindoerfer of InsideOut Landscaping Services of Silver Spring, Maryland.
The community cleanup and gardening project will last from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 p.m. “It is wonderful to have such caring neighbors, who generously give their time and resources to our students and to our school”, states Richard Trogisch, Principal of School Without Walls at Francis-Stevens.
