Vancouver Half Day Activities
A lively collection of renovated warehouses under the Granville Street Bridge, which makes a perfect home to craft shops, theatres, artists’ studios, and the famous public market known best for its bounty of produce and fresh seafood. The island is home to all kinds of restaurants, marinas and even a microbrewery named for it. Hop in a taxi to the island (approximately $10 CDN) or to the Aquatic Centre and then board a False Creek Foot Ferry, or take the #50 Bus south on Granville St. to arrive at the island. Driving time is approximately 10 minutes from the Fairmont Waterfront.
Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park
spans 450 feet across and 230 feet above the Capilano River is guaranteed to awe inspire every visitor! Located on Vancouver's North Shore a complimentary Shuttle Bus will transfer you from the hotel and allow you to experience the Bridge, Treetops Adventures featuring seven suspension bridges through the evergreens taking you up to 100 feet (30 m) above the forest floor. The newest attraction in the park is the amazing Cliffwalk, this heart-stopping cliffside journey takes you through rainforest vegetation on a series of unobtrusive cantilevered and suspended walkways jutting out from the granite cliff face above Capilano River to previously unexplored areas of the park. Not for the faint of heart, it is high and narrow and, in some sections, glass (very strong glass) is all that separates guests from the canyon far below. Combine this with a visit to Grouse Mountain and make a full-day of visiting the North Shore.
Grouse Mountain, The Peak of Vancouver
Take North America’s largest aerial tram to the top of Grouse Mountain, and enjoy panoramic views from 3,700 feet. Experience winter like a Vancouverite and try your hand at skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and ice-skating or take it easy with a sleigh or sno-limo ride. Come summer hit the trails with options ranging from guided eco-walks to the grueling grouse grind. Prefer to see the sights without the hike? Scenic chairlift rides, falconry demonstrations and lumberjack shows are the choice for you. Adrenaline seekers will delight in ziplining, paragliding and helicopter tours. Regardless of the time of year, the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife is not to be missed and the Theatre in the Sky provides you the opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of Southwestern BC from an eagle’s point of view.
