Stayed three nights in Gold room. Rooms were decent but not special. Lounge was very warm, not comfortable due to poor A/C. Staff were excellent and did everything possible to make stay better.

The rooms desperately need to be updated! They have been run down for a while and not what you expect from a Fairmont hotel. it was also very warm in the rooms and hotel
Came in for a meeting. I had requested an early check-in as my meeting began at 2 and I arrived at noon; clerk at the desk gave me a hard time about not knowing if a room was ready (one was). This has happened before. If someone books a room with an early check-in, then one needs to be available. The bed was fine, no issue there, but the BATHROOM needed attention. The sink fixture was loose and spun all around. Not what one would expect for that price. It seems that every time I book, there is something wrong with room. Not just in Winnipeg, but in Banff as well.
We frequent the Winnipeg Fairmont Gold floor and the staff is always pleasant and eager to help with anything we might need.

At check-in the staff made a credit pre-authorisation to settle the bill at check-out. They did not explain the credit card would be debited at multiple times during my stay of 7 nights. My credit card was blocked on March 26 due to an unapproved debit by Fairmont. When talked to front desk they assured me no debit was made. It required 30 minutes on the phone with my credit card company to approve the unauthorised debit. My credit card was blocked a second time on March 29 when Fairmont Winnipeg made a second unapproved debit. Front desk staff could only apologise but did not understand the billing and no actual interest in the hours spent with my credit card company to approve these debits my phone. The situation was so bad that I left and stayed the remainder of my time at the Holiday Inn Winnipeg

Well kept room itself, but despite checking in online the day before, our late flight had us in a room doors from the elevator, so it was noisy. The only other option was to upgrade to Gold to get a room that wasn't near the elevator, so that was disappointing. Staff were polite and friendly but they appeared understaffed with long lines at the front desk for check out. Pool and sauna were clean and well maintained. Close to many amenities and restaurants.
Service from all areas was great. Very polite, professional and caring.
This was easily one of the worst stays my wife and I have had. The expectation of the hotel vs what you get did not meet our expectations. Living out of town and staying in for a concert, I have always viewed the hotel as high end but have never stayed at the Fairmont. My wife also was keen on staying there. I requested a King and got 2 doubles (they are not queens). I asked for a king and although available I would have to wait for another hour or so (this was at 3:30 pm.) to get one. The hot water took 10 mins to finally appear in the shower. The toilet did not flush but myself found out the tap to the toilet was turned right down and found out why. Once turned up the pipes rattled so bad you had to adjust. There was a loud noise that came out of the bathroom shower every so often (I am guessing pipes from another floor). The last straw was as I finally got hot water out of the bathroom sink I went to get cold water for a drink of water (not even free bottle of water in the room) and Hot water came out for 5 mins. Unbelievable. Never have I left a bad review so there was a first for everything on this stay.
