Museums
With four local museums in the National Park, guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to exploring our rich history. The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies offers a glimpse of the 'spirit of the wilderness' through displays and cultural programs, and featured the largest collection of Canadian Rockies art and historical artefacts. The Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum celebrates the native people of this area through cultural displays showcasing tipi, exquisite quillwork and unique hunting equipment.
Historic Sites
Banff has preserved its rich history and cultural sites for visitors to explore. The Cave & Basin historical site preserves the stories of the hot springs that have beckoned travelers to Banff since the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Managed by Parks Canada, this is a great cultural activity to enjoy on your visit to Banff. Alternatively the Banff Park Museum is located on Banff Avenue and a wonderful hub of local history.
