Fairmont Copley Plaza Brings Downton Abbey: The Exhibition to Life

Fans of the beloved British drama no longer have to cross the pond to live in luxury like the Crawley family. We are celebrating the arrival of Downton Abbey: The Exhibition to Boston by decorating one of our luxury Fairmont Gold suites in the spirit of the show and post-Edwardian time period. Dressed with antique memorabilia curated from the Greater Boston Vintage Society, the “Downton Abbey: The Exhibition Suite” is available to reserve for the duration of the exhibit’s run, from June 15–September 29, 2019. Among the décor details: framed photographs of the exhibition displays, a phonograph from the 1900-1920s, antique candlestick style telephone, Victorian style floor lamp, vintage silver tea set and alcohol decanters, and more.

The connection between Fairmont Copley Plaza and the British saga is strong–the hotel opened in 1912, the same year that season one began. Often referenced as the “Grand Dame of Boston,” the hotel’s magnificent architecture, lobby and ballrooms are the epitome of style and luxury, just like the estate that housed the fictional aristocratic family and their help. Many foreign dignitaries, royalty and celebrities have graced the historic hotel in Copley Square, including His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales.
