It took 50 teams of horses and 200 men working together for a year in order to clear the land of boulders and debris to prepare it for what would become one of Canada's premiere golf courses. Since the opening of the mountain golf course in 1925, this jewel set deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies has been the setting of unforgettable memories for all of those who come to play.
Few golf courses in the world can match the rugged majesty of this national treasure, rated Canada's #1 Golf Resort for the past 20 years by SCOREGolf Magazine.

The Staff were very accommodating to our needs as this was a business trip and therefore much less flexible than is typical! One downside is that the Cabs into and out of Jasper are literal highway robbery and the drivers are gas lighters. They charge way too much and don't tell you the fee until you are already in the Cab and driving. Plus there is no meter so they can determine the price once you are already committed to the drive without a minute or mileage rate. I don't even know if they can be considered a cab company as they present as more of an amateur side gig which the hotel ordered for us. We ended up spending 200$ for a round trip into Jasper for dinner. To put in context, that is 200$ for ~30 min of driving. It left me with a very uneasy feeling that the relationship between the town and the resort is not a codependent or cooperative one. I would recommend that the hotel get their own shuttle service year-round for its guests to reserve, since the local companies have no interest in servicing the guests with any honesty. I would rather pay the resort the fee than the people I dealt with in town.

The negatives: (1) The suite was definitely not worth the approx $700+ taxes and fees per night. The room looked tired, as a lot of the accommodation at this hotel does - despite the manager stating they are continuing to update! Whilst the room was superficially clean, if you looked closer there was a reasonable amount of dust in a lot of places. The curtains were tired and drab with food stains on them - basically they needed a good wash. The telephones were dirty as was the seating in the lounge - we had to wipe everything down with bacterial wipes. It appears that there aren't enough cleaning staff for the size of the resort (particularly in light of how the accommodation is spaced out). One questions when the suite last had a deep clean - if ever! (2) The patio doors didn't close properly, and there was a 3/4 inch gap at the top. (3) Sound proofing wasn't great at the entrance of the suite - when people were in the small hall you could hear every word. (4) Limited food choice - a lot of the eating establishments were closed. (5) Parking - larger parking spaces are needed near the suites / lodges. We had to park in the main car park, as we wouldn't have got out of the parking space had two vehicles parked either side of us. (6) The overall feeling is that the resort is losing the homely feel, and is becoming too commercialized. The positives: (1) The staff were polite and friendly. (2) What food was available was good. (3) Location is fantastic, particularly for walking / hiking / running. If it wasn't for the the 3 positives above the experience would definitely had been classed as 'dissatisfied'. Regardless, the fee for the suite is over priced for what you get, and at best was worth $400 - $450 plus fees and taxes per night. Had the suite been fresh and very clean (as one would expect when when paying approx $700 per night), then the overall experience would have been an 8.

When we arrived, it was busy but the valet made room for us. We were greeted and ushered into the entrance and once at the checkout had a very warm welcome by the front desk manager who checked us in. The valet showed us to our cabin, took our luggage and set everything up for us. Once all settled, we enjoyed a lot of what the hotel had to offer. Heated outdoor pool and hot tub, great restaurant staff with great food and drinks, hiking around the lake with the rented ice cleats then ice skating on the ice oval. Once it was time to leave, they brought us our vehicle to our cabin and loaded the bags. Over all a fantastic weekend away.
I have stayed at the JPL several times and this was by far the worst experience I have had. As I stated above, several minor inconveniences (4 requests for coffee to be brought to the room, having to ask for soap). However the room was left unlocked, doors wide open for some time. My husband came in the room at 1430 hrs and thought they were still in the process of cleaning. He waited 1 hr. No one returned. If he had not returned to the room who knows how long the room would be unlocked, hoe long it had been open for at that point, and our possessions accessible to anyone who might want them. Not acceptable.
Everyone is so friendly and they go out of their way to make your stay memorable. The views cant be beat and the lodge is the perfect getaway.
We love the JPL but had not visited since the pandemic. We were disappointed with many of the changes and lack of winter activities. To add to our disappointment I have been charged twice for a expensive spa treatment.
We brought our kids here for a weekend getaway and it never disappoints. You never have to leave the resort, the service is great, rooms clean and scenery can't be beat. We enjoyed all the amenities and activities but the highlights were Oka sushi (he is an amazing man and the food is incredible), the skating rink and the pool.
We had requested a room close to the main lodge which was nicely accommodated upon check in. The pool was amazing. Great heat and the view from both pool and hot tub are spectacular. We ate at the main area for a couple meals and both were quite good. The mountain Caesars are awesome as well as the Negroni’s. You also can not go wrong with dessert. My wife had a pedicure at the spa which was quite good. Not as spectacular as the massages that we have had in the past, but she said it was good. Our only negative on the trip was the parking outside of our cabin. It was stated as unloading, but a couple of our neighbors decided to park there permanently. It made for a long walk to load our vehicle when we left. Next time I will request someone else walk half a block to load our vehicle. If you have a 15 minute unloading policy, it should be enforced. They had a couple little security vehicles ripping around, but they are grossly incompetent if that are policing parking.
