Rise early, bundle up and enjoy the most memorable sunrise of your life atop Haleakalā. Rising 10,023 feet above sea level, Mount Haleakalā is the world's largest dormant volcano. The name Haleakalā means "House of the Sun" because it looks like we house the sun itself as it gently rises into the sky.
The park offers hiking, sightseeing, horseback riding, downhill biking, and amazing sunrises and sunsets.
**As of February 1, 2017, sunrise viewing reservations are required (3:00am - 7:00am) and are only available at www.recreation.gov. The cost is $1.50 per car. Must bring a printed copy of reservation confirmation.
