Columbia Icefields Ice Walks

Our classic, and most popular trip. Three to four hours allows us to take you up the lower two kilometres of the Athabasca Glacier. Meeting in the parking lot nearest the glacier about a half hour before the trip begins, we will consult with each participant about necessary equipment and your level of fitness. Once the group is properly equipped, we head up a short but steep trail to the edge of the glacier. Throughout the trip, short stops allow us to introduce our groups to the concepts of active glaciation and features of a glacially carved landscape. There are many examples of moraines, millwells and small crevasses. The surrounding peaks are amongst the most stunning in the Canadian Rockies.

PRICE: $105 per adult │$60 per child (age 7–16)
DURATION: 3 hours
TIMES: 9:40 am

The Icewalk Deluxe is a six hour trip up the entire length of the lower Athabasca Glacier, usually culminating in an ascent into the lowest of three icefalls. Starting in the parking lot nearest the glacier, we assess your level of ability and outfit everyone with the necessary equipment. Then we head off to the glacier.Going past areas covered by the Ice Cubed walks, into some of the most rugged sections of the glacier, this hike is guaranteed to take your breath away! In the upper sections of the trip you'll have the opportunity to look into crevasses, gawk at towering seracs of ice and maybe even see an ice avalanche or two. Although the distance isn't great (about 8 km round trip), the ice we walk over is never flat. You will need to pay attention and you will certainly sleep well after this trip!

PRICE: $160 per adult │$80 per child (ages 7–16)
