Pros: 1. Amazing location - Within walking distance to so many attractions and the area is very scenic. 2. Beautiful building - The building interior is almost a tour by itself. 3. Courteous Staff - The staff was nice and tried to help. 4. Spacious room - The room has plenty of space and isn’t cramped. Cons: 1. Room wasn’t ready on time - We arrived early but we still had to wait over 30 minutes past the promised check-in time. 2. Room wasn’t fully cleaned - The room was dusty and the cleaning felt rushed. There was still some articles of trash that weren’t disposed properly. 3. Climate control issues - The room’s thermostat barely functions. We went to staff several times. 1. First Time - Repair man said A/C wasn’t big enough for the room and suggest we turn lights and TV’s down because they emit heat. 2. Second Time - Asked front desk for fan. It was loud and barely moved enough air. Had to put it right next to bed to try to cool at night. 3. Third Time - Another room was offered. The temperature also seemed to persist there. Also, room was offered at 2am, and packing up to move for just another day didn’t feel worth it by then. 4. Vehicle accessibility - You have to call the valet to get the car. It can be a hassle getting anything out of the car versus if you could get the car yourself. For a four-star hotel, we wish we would have had a better experience. I rank this stay as a 2/5.

The mattress moved very easily from the headboard therefore creating a small enough space for pillows to fall into the space. This made sleeping a slight annoyance rather than comfortable. In-room wifi WAS NOT FREE! It was free in the lobby, but once I got to my room, I had to upgrade to "business" or "professional" in order to continue using wifi. The hotel website description of wifi service makes it appear that you get free wifi and you could upgrade if you wanted to. Very deceptive!
Lovely stay with all needed amenities, beautiful lobby and wedding halls. Room was small and basic but everything we needed.
Lovely time!!
I would have provided a 9, the room and the staff where fantastic. But I had been looking forward to a nice dinner in our room, and it was a huge disappointment. I had ordered the smelt and chips, the portion was tiny, as where the smelt( I suspect some kid is going to be very disappointed that his aquarium was emptied), and the chips where like dollar store potato chips soaked in oil, should be rebranded guppies and PC potato chips in a cup, 32 bucks. The other order was crab melandine, I'm assuming melandine is french cold play dough pasta. All this on a tray, so we had to eat it off the coffee table. I was surprised that such a fantastic hotel had such third rate food. I had mentioned my experience to some colleagues and was told that the food at Zoeys has that reputation, wish I had asked before. I'm just mentioning this in detail in hope that the food situation can be addressed. Otherwise everything else was just perfect. And I would come back and would recommend the Chateau, but would warn people to stay away from the food.
Typical excellent Fairmont service and so conveniently located to everything our car never left the parking lot. Steps from Parliament, Byward Market, The Mint, the National Arts Centre etc. Afternoon tea at Zoe's with my tween daughters was so fun as well. This is the perfect hotel to book if you are coming to visit and tour Ottawa.
I was a little disappointed in our room, which was very small and the view was of the another side of the hotel. The key card didn't work very well, so it was a bit of a struggle each time we tried to get into our room. I had trouble with the coffee maker, which didn't seem to work. I went down early in the morning to buy a coffee, but the restaurant wasn't open. When I mentioned that that the coffee machine in our room didn't work, a staff member at the front desk offered to bring me and my husband a coffee. Within 5 minutes my husband and I enjoyed a delicious coffee in our room. I was very impressed. I also thought the hotel concierge was excellent. He provided us with a map and detailed instructions on how to get to a restaurant that I mentioned.
