Enjoyed the large room. Some minor negative points. The room was great. It would be nice however if two arm chairs and a small coffee table could be provided. Lots of room for it. The sink plug did not work. Asked for something to be delivered to the room. It never appeared. The breakfast buffet is okay, but not great.
The room was fine, but the bed was terribly uncomfortable, tiny window, bathroom shower took ten minutes to warm up, the only USB plug in the room did not work, forcing me to purchase one. I asked to have it fixed, but nobody responded. I did not eat in the restaurant as $40 for a buffet breakfast is insane.
My co-worker and I were in Ottawa for a conference and ended up stranded after our flight was cancelled in the evening. All other hotels were fully booked, but after 1.5 hours of searching, we connected with the Chateau Laurier who had cancellations and were quick to get us in. After an exhausting day, we were blown away by the experience that waited for us. I admittedly squealed and scared the taxi driver when we had employees opening our doors, and pulling our luggage from the car (part of my job as an event planner is hauling lots and lots of stuff around, so my back appreciated it). We were probably quite the sight, given our disheveled clothing and looks amongst the rest of the well put together clientele. Our rooms were done up beautifully and the staff made everything was set. What started as a stressful day and only got worse, ended in a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. We were back in our offices by Friday telling everybody about our near Disney-like experience. BIG thank you to your staff!
Pleasant staff, clean and well maintained hotel. Beautiful lobby and restaurants - it was so nice to eat at Zoe's and then come back to it for a fun cocktail in the beautiful sitting area. Room was furnished well and clean, but dark. View was of parking lot and cramped space - couldn't fit my suitcase between the bed and the TV stand so had to pick it up and carry it over. Bathroom was pretty but very narrow and I kept hitting my elbows either on the shower door handle or the counter.
I was upgraded to Fairmont Gold (thank you!) the entire staff for the four days that I was on the third floor were so lovely. They were friendly, polite and personable. They really seemed to enjoy what they were doing and they did it well. The food in the Gold Lounge was fantastic!
Although it is an old hotel, the Gold is worth the upgrade! I rate it an 8 only, because the standard rooms are a bit run down especially the bathrooms. And the curtains and lights sometimes don’t work either. The hotel needs some repairs.

My stay was very good. The hotel is well located and clean but most of all the lasting impression was the amount of smiling faces around from the staff (doormen, concierge, reception, housekeeping). They were EXTREMELY attentive and it was clear that they cared about guest satisfaction. I called for a shower cap close to midnight and one was delivered to my door in less than 2 minutes - amazing. Thank you for a great stay - I will be highly recommending this hotel to anyone travelling to Ottawa.
The room was gorgeous and the staff was very professional. The food was delicious as well.
The good: front desk staff were friendly, polite and helpful. A staff person even stopped me to ensure I had forgotten my luggage as I headed to the elevator but I was just travelling light. The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The not so great. The floor was soaking wet by the bed and seating area. My socks soaked every time I lifted the blinds. The solution offered was to put a table over it which wasn’t very satisfactory. The shower doesn’t drain well so even for a brief shower I was standing in a few inches of water which wasn’t pleasant but as always, the toiletries and design of the bathroom, two robes and lovely linens were wonderful. Being on the first floor above traffic and a concert was very noisy but died down around 11 so it was ok. I stay at Fairmont’s as my first choice however this experience wasn’t as reliable nor pleasant as other visits, I did get a discount because it was a last minute booking but didn’t love feeling like a second rate guest with the room selection. Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Shannon
