We had an impromptu visit to Ottawa with no plans on where to stay. Looks like we picked a great time to be there - as the city was not so busy.
All was good but the room had a lot of traffic noise. We had the best omelets ever from the amazing omelet man. You are fortunate to have him on your staff!!’
relaxed and comfortable.
My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont for the first time and it exceeded our expectations. The hotel is stunning and in a great location.

Room had great character consistent with the hotel’s heritage. Staff were excellent
The concierges on the gold floor were excellent and the weekend breakfasts there, with the chef present, were particularly excellent. The other meals offered on the gold floor were also well done. However several things were disappointing. Because my plane was late I arrived at the hotel at 1040pm. There was a very very inexperienced trainee receptionist who took a long time to check me in and when I asked for a paper copy of my reservation she had no idea how to print it. I was hungry on arrival so when I got to my room I immediately called the operator to connect me to room service. He was not able to do that so he gave me an email link to room service (which I thought was very strange) and when I spoke with room service they immediately told me I had 5 minutes to decide on a hot meal, otherwise it would only be cold meals overnight. I felt pressured and uncomfortable by this so I did not order room service. This was not a sign of a luxury hotel, I thought. So I went back to this receptionist-in-training in the main lobby again and I asked her where I could go for a fast take out meal. She had no idea, spent at least 15 minutes on google, and directed me to a 24 hour A and W that was quite far away. When I spoke to the gold concierge they said I should have been directed to Byward market where there are several late night restaurants. Also I was mystified why Zoe is not open until midnight - it is a bar and it is popular.. Lastly when I checked out I wanted to leave/store my luggage as I had to go to a meeting, them pick up my luggage to head to the airport. The concierge was not there yet so I encountered a new another junior receptionist who said "Oh just leave it at the concierge desk" When I mentioned this to the excellent Bellman Gordon, he was shocked and ran in and tagged my luggage. When I came back in the early afternoon the main floor concierge was also shocked that there would have been untagged and was at risk for being stolen. So the hotel needs to improve the training for its new staff and keep a hot food restaurant open for late check-ins. I would like this response to be kept anonymous only within the hotel and not to be posted.
We were a family of 4 with 2 kids under 9 years old. When we were trying to sleep people from the party in the Quebec room kept coming out and we were directly in front (room 418) so it caused some disturbance. The rest of the staff was helpful and courteous. The pool was nice. I would come back but ask to be away from any party rooms
The hotel staff are very cordial and professional, the property beautiful. Unfortunately, the A/C in our room on the six floor was not working, the room was very hot. The hotel knew there were issues with the A/C in that floor and they should've have place us in a floor with no issues. We had to change room the last evening.
