The Riviera Maya is a region located in the southeast of Mexico along the coast of the Caribbean Sea.
The region of Riviera Maya is famous for its miles of soft beaches, Mayan ruins, and world-class scuba diving. For the adventurous, the recreational activities are endless such as scuba diving with electric rays among giant sponges and stony corals, ziplining over beautiful jungles, jetskiing miles across the Caribbean waters, and swimming with dolphins at Delphenus in Playa del Carmen. Visiting cenotes is another experience unique to this area. Cenotes are sinkholes filled with fresh water, typically found in caves that the Mayans believed were sacred places.

Overall a lovely vacation. Our rooms were not connected as originally planned but it worked out fine. The resort was very, very busy the first couple of days but calmed down a bit after the weekend. There was a transition while we were there from young families to conference attendees. The conference somewhat took over the resort with various areas closed off to only conference attendees. That didn’t feel very welcoming to others that were staying there and it was a bit annoying to go to a bar to find out it was closed. The resort should’ve notified us ahead of time and had signage or flyers each day letting guests know what was and wasn’t open. Great food and beverages, friendly staff for the most part. Beach servers were much friendlier and hardworking than pool servers.

Generally clean, nice facilities and pool/beach area. Service was a bit slow with pockets of better service across the other resorts and sometimes at pool. Food at all inclusive restaurants wasn’t great but access to some other really great options. Would stay here again!
We had the most wonderful 3 nights at Fairmont Mayakoba. I can’t wait to go back.
You cannot have an all inclusive resort mixed with a normal one..it defeats the purpose..we had to wait for 45 minutes at Cafe Maya because a party of 5 in front was ordering the entire menu..and there was ONE server..this is unacceptable. Check in took 20 minutes as only ONE counter of the 5 around was manned
The property is very beautiful and luxruious! The service could be better. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay.
A beautiful welcoming lobby greeted us, with a cool towel after a long travel day. Check in was easy, we were upgraded to a newly renovated casita suite which was a nice perk. The rooms are gorgeous, modern but chic with a spacious bathroom that includes a stunning outdoor shower. The grounds are perfectly manicured with winding lagoons throughout the property where boat tours run regularly taking you all over the unique Mayakoba property. The Maykana beach club is their new crown jewel and it does not disappoint! A gorgeous infinity pool anchors the site, opening onto the perfect white sands beach. Of all 4 properties at Mayakoba, Fairmont arguably has the best piece of beach real estate with a wide swath of beach front. Maykana has amazing restaurants including Brisas and Gaia which provide your meal in a stunning setting overlooking the ocean. Upstairs of Maykana is a ultra chic bar, Cielo, with sunken seating in a pool. A cool place for a nightcap. Back near the main area of the hotel, La Laguna has been updated, to have 5 fresh pools that is divided in such a way, that many times you feel you have your own private pool area. There is plenty of seating, so no fighting for empty chairs. At la laguna is also Cafe Maya, a perfect place to start your day with a coffee and pastry then there are two terrific restaurants overlooking the canals. Lastly don't miss Tauro, the steak house at Fairmont, for an amazing steak dinner experience.
Fairmont Mayakoba is a nice property by every measure, but the experience is pure vanilla. That is, the experience is boring. I could have been anywhere; it has no sense of place. I'm not in Mexico, I'm simply at a resort on a beach - and the beach is not that special. I could be anywhere in the world. Mostly, it felt like being in America - boring. The drinks are weak, the staff is simply trained to ask if I have allergies (I think I was asked 3x a day if I had allergies -enough!), the clientele is boring - suburban people with little kids who are too overwhelmed to go anywhere remotely interesting. The entire experience is simply plain. No restaurant was interesting, no activity was memorable. As a guest, I felt like a cow in a field munching grass - that is, I felt like a commodity. I will not return. However, my kids liked it. You have pools and an OK beach. Great. They are 1 and 4 and again, that has to do with the property - the property is very nice. Although the beach could be nicer if you didn't have jet ski lanes, a break water, and all that stuff that ruins the view of the ocean. I'm really commenting on the experience, which was not luxurious. It did not feel exclusive. It just felt plain vanilla boring. I will not return.

My name is Patty H. and my family and I stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba from 3/23 to 3/29 and I wanted to write a review of my experience. The area was beautiful, we LOVED our suite (we are a family of 5 - 7 year old, 4 year old and 10 month old baby) but I have to let you know that we thought the food at the resort was AWFUL. i fed my 10 month old food on the first day we were there and for the next 7 days she had horrendous diarrhea and didnt' eat anything and got dehydrated. my 4 year old was so sick he was either on the toilet or in bed for a whole day - and we needed to put diapers on hiM!!! and then my husband has had diarrhea for 2 weeks and is going to go to the doctor tomorrow. . My 7 year old and i never got sick but the food was so not appetizing that I barely ate anything the whole week. I would not expect something like this to happen at such a high quality resort and when we had spent the kind of money we did. My husband and I went to the four seasons in punta mita in january and the one and only in cabo last year and we had absolutely NO problems with the food.
