The Riviera Maya is a region located in the southeast of Mexico along the coast of the Caribbean Sea.
The region of Riviera Maya is famous for its miles of soft beaches, Mayan ruins, and world-class scuba diving. For the adventurous, the recreational activities are endless such as scuba diving with electric rays among giant sponges and stony corals, ziplining over beautiful jungles, jetskiing miles across the Caribbean waters, and swimming with dolphins at Delphenus in Playa del Carmen. Visiting cenotes is another experience unique to this area. Cenotes are sinkholes filled with fresh water, typically found in caves that the Mayans believed were sacred places.

Everything was great!!! My only knock is on the food.......our tummies were quite unhappy during our visit. I fell off a bike and had to get some stitches - the staff was TREMENDOUS. Really showed that they cared etc. Gabriella was a standout!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was excellent, the beds were very comfortable, the beach was perfect, the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. During our stay my wife fell as a result of missing a step. Jorge (lifeguard/medic) attended to her wounds and even stopped by our room during the early evening to check on her. Thanks to his excellent care and compassion along with the excellent staff Fairmont Mayakoba will forever be a very special place to us.

My husband and I visited the Fairmont Mayakoba in February, celebrating both our anniversary and my birthday. Our stay was nothing short of exceptional. The resort itself is extremely gorgeous and well kept, having just been renovated within the last few years. We were given the option to upgrade our stay and select the all inclusive package, both worth the additional cost. Our suite was remarkable and very special- we leveraged our rooftop pool and lounge daily. I think the highlight of our stay was the outstanding service we received throughout our entire stay. Our room came with the Fairmont's butler service, and Irene made sure our every wish and need was taken care of. I would also like to highlight Gilberth, a tremendous attendant and waiter at the beach. He made every day so wonderful and special for us. Miguel, our boat tour guide, was also a highlight of our trip. He was extremely knowledgable and really knew the history of Mayakoba. What a wonderful person! I can't say enough good things about Irene, Gilberth and Miguel. Would like to also recognize: Nestor (in room dining), Alvaro (Fuego waiter), Oasis (pool), Erick (beach), Justino (Tauro), Marco (valet), Kevin (bartender), Aaron (Cielo), Angel (Cielo). Thanks for a wonderful stay and we look forward to our return!
We stayed with our family (4 kids) for spring break
The Fairmont grounds were beautiful and kept very clean. The staff were all friendly. My biggest complaint would be the lack of places to get coffee in the morning. Caya Maya was great, but the one time I had time to wait for coffee I was 3rd in line and it took 20 minutes. The free coffee in the main building is only available until 7am. I am used to most establishments having coffee available at least until 9 or 10. Service was also slow in the other restaurants as well. We just chalked it up to Americans always being in a hurry. One of our sliding doors between the bathroom and bedroom was broken. While we did not ask maintenance to fix it, our room was cleaned every day and the staff knew it was broken yet no one ever came to fix it. We were able to close the doors most of the way, so it wasn't a big issue for us.
Hotel and grounds were absolutely beautiful. Staff was accommodating and pleasant. But, getting food was ridiculous. Every restaurant was booked until 9-9:30pm. There was no shop to get soda, snacks, etc. To get food or drinks, we were forced to either order room service or wait forever at the restaurants. The hotel was booked to capacity, but the restaurants were not staffed to accommodate the number of guests. I would not go back just because of the extreme hassle just to get food and beverages.
Our favorite resort, hands down. The layout of the resort allows for privacy and you never feel overwhelmed by crowds. We found open spaces at the pools, the beach, and beachside pools. We got in to every restaurant we wanted to visit and got into the spa easily! This resort is so quiet. Your staff is always so helpful and our casita was like new every day. We will be back!
Second time here. Amenities, views, rooms, are beautiful. Staff is friendly and helpful. My only criticism is with respect to the restaurants and the need to book reservations so far in advance. When people are on vacation, they should not have to choose their dining experiences before they even get to the resort.
Great personal service by the entire team, responsive, pleasant, always smiling, you could clearly tell that everyone cared
