We chose Fairmont Orchid to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary because we had stayed here 7 years ago and enjoyed it then. We upgraded to Fairmont Gold this time because of our special occasion. By far the best part of Fairmont Gold was breakfast in the lounge. There were many delicious options. We also enjoyed the late-afternoon canapes and other snacks in the lounge. The friendly concierge in the lounge was available to help whenever we needed it. The welcome leis, the champagne, the anniversary message, and the sweet treats made us feel special. The bathroom in our room was wonderful, with a separate water closet, and two showers — a shower room and a bathtub/shower combo! Lovely location of the hotel on the beachfront. We enjoyed viewing the sunsets from the walkway. At night, the string lights, outdoor fire pit, tiki torches, chaise lounge chairs and Adirondack chairs made for a beautiful ambiance. On the down side, we felt the daily resort fee was too high — higher than we had ever paid at a Hawaii resort. Plus, the self-parking was a big inconvenience, as we had to park so far away from the entrance. We paid $50 for two small Mai Tais at the beach bar, and the Mai Tais didn’t taste like Mai Tais. In our room, the bench at the foot of the bed was not constructed properly. It was lightweight and the legs were near the center of the bench, meaning you could tip over (which happened) if you sit on one end. The room needs updating/renovating. Some of the electrical outlets and USB ports didn’t work. And the bed, while comfortable, was way too high to get into (had to jump up onto the bed to get into it).

Facility is getting old. Had lot of trouble with internet. These days it is a necessity. Staff at all locations were friendly and nice. Facility costed me almost $1000/day (all taxes included). Definitely NOT worth that much. Value received was not worth the money spent.

We’ve stayed at the Fairmont Orchid three or four times. This was our first visit in three years. Prices have increased astronomically. $135/day for cabana chairs on beach plus a tip cost us over $160/day. Food was ridiculously expensive. $25 for one cocktail. Restaurant prices have also increased dramatically. I realize we have inflation, but it was crazy expensive. Our room had different prices every night with the lowest being $599/night and the highest being $798/night. I don’t understand why every night was a different price. It wasn’t that way in the past. Rooms are definitely showing their age. Furniture is dated and every room we’ve ever stayed in has a shower that leaks water all over the floor. We were “upgraded” from a partial ocean view to a full ocean view because we are “platinum” members. The view was slightly better, but not so much better that I would have paid more for it. Our bed was like sleeping on concrete. I thought I’d get accustomed to it, but my neck and back were like stone by the time we left 10 days later. We should have complained, obviously. The hotel has beautiful grounds and a wonderful beach and calm bay in which to swim. The pool is huge. Service at the beach and pool were great. That’s what keeps us coming back. The employees are so friendly and helpful.
Great place. Well run. Expensive
As always it was great! I made a mistake in our booking. Thinking I booked Fairmont Gold, but it was not. When I checked in Juliana made it happened and got us in our fairmont gold one bed suite, which accommodated our family appropriately. We appreciate Fairmont providing Kama’aina rates!
My trip was mostly for a conference and I could not have been more pleased with the facilities. The grounds are beautifully kept. My one and only complaint was that I went to the on site bar and grill which also is the bar for the pool. I sat at the bar and was provided service, but the staff was SO busy making drinks for the pool guests I kind of felt forgotten about. They were working NONSTOP. This is not a complaint on them. The service I did receive was good, but either there needs to be another bartender for the pool specifically or there just needs to be a 3rd bartender period. I felt the staff was way over stretched.
Great experience overall. We only had one bad meal on property. Good and drinks on property were overpriced by about 30-40%. However the staff and location were great. The best part was the cleaning staff, who were diligent, friendly, and kept our room and the grounds a relaxing paradise.
