The Royal York is still my “go to” hotel while in Toronto. The location across from Union station is convenient. The bar and dining options are excellent and the staff makes you feel like a valued client. Bed is always very comfortable and rooms are well cleaned. My Toronto friends enjoy coming to the Fairmont to catch up at in the comfort of Reign.
It was my first time staying at the Fairmont Royal York, and it was only for one night, but that is all it took. I was enamored by my surroundings immediately when I entered the main lobby. Definitely not disappointed in how regal and well kept-up all of the architecture was. My room was also stellar. The cost of the hotel was a bit above my budget, but totally worth it if you've never stayed at this hotel before.
Restaurants was great, excellent service and great tasting food.
I always stay at the Royal York when in Toronto, and have always been pleased with the exceptional service. This time, my reservation was cancelled, and my usual room type was not available (I was placed in a wheelchair room, instead of my usual larger room). Staff were not willing to provide the custom service I expect and have received in the past. I requested that my profile be updated but have not heard back from any senior management thus far.
Business trip- great room (as requested) nice to relax in the Clockwork lounge - I was made to feel comfortable as a single woman & had a nice light dinner there.
Check in was friendly and fast. Room was immaculate. Water pressure in the shower was perfect. Beds were super comfortable. Amenities were generous.
I stayed on the first floor, it was very loud, the street noise and traffic. I was worried I wouldn’t sleep. The bathroom shower was small, very tight and there was a spot of blood left on the wall by my shower and it looks like stained blood on the shower base but it didn’t wash away so I think it was staining. The best part of my stay that saved the night was the bed. It and the pillows were perfection. I slept so well even with the street noise. I may purchase one of these mattresses yet!
Overall a very good experience
It was a pleasure to experience the Fairmont Royal York. After returning to Toronto after living there for several years, we treated ourselves to a stay here and it was worth it. The location, the service and the hospitality were top notch. Love the vibe of the lobby!
Fairmont has dropped significantly over the years. Beds are uncomfortable, toiletries are minimal, many of the finer details you expect from a world class hotel are overlooked such as general use area hand sanitizers are empty, etc. This is my 3rd stay in a Fairmont in the last two years, Banff, Edmonton and now Toronto. Definitely not worth the money and to be honest have had much better stays at a Best Western or Comfort Inn.
