I often was treated by hotel staff as though I did not belong at the hotel. They were often dismissive of my request for information. An example, I entered the Reign bar area to stand and watch the Maple Leaf team play on the TV and the hostess approached me to ask me what I needed. She was rude and made me feel I was not allowed to be in the area. I asked the Concierge if it was easier to take a cab or the train to the Billy Bishop airport He proceeded to give me directions on how to take the train. I ended up on a train to Pearson Airport, needed to get off and take a cab, $40 later and 1.5 hours late to the airport. I was not happy.

My Fiancée and I are going through a bucket list of adventures. We came all the way from BC to stay at the Iconic Royal York Hotel in Toronto. We were sold on the idea of staying at a hotel with such a Rich History of class and elegance dating back to the golden era of Jazz . 1929! When we arrived at the hotel we just wanted to intake it all in , have a cocktail and enjoy the ambience of the “grandest hotel” in the British Empire of 1929. We were so disappointed to have a DJ blaring boom boom music in the main lobby which we could not escape. This was a horrible experience. We didn’t even get to relax and have a cocktail because this garbage bombarbment of music was not escapable. I will be escalating my complaint to the Fairmont at a much higher level. Give your head a shake Royal York , remember who the “paying” guests are at your hotel. You really missed the mark on this one. Never again will I ever pay this kind of “hard working money” for this hotel again . Boooo ! Kind regards, Chris H. 60…
Customer service excellent; atmosphere is historic and grand
shower did not drain - which was unhealthy, "gross" (for lack of a better word), and dangerous (slippery) this was so severe that could not have been a sudden/new problem, which should have been well known to housekeeping from regular cleaning, or hopefully reported by a previous occupant the maintenance team was unable to rectify and management offered to give me a different room, but that was already well into my stay and my meeting schedule would have required a late night move
Service was excellent. From the front desk to the lobby to the elevators and to our room. On checking out we were overcharged for some drinks but were credited for them very promptly once we reached out to customer service on line. Would definately stay there again. One thing I find very odd and disappointing, considering the cost of a room, you have to pay for wifi. That shouldn't be.

2 days for a work conference close enough to walk.
As I mentioned my stay was fantastic. The issue I had was booking my stay. I went online and what I thought was the Hotels official site was actually a reservations.com website. They should not be allowed to mirror your website as they did to fool the consumer to thinking it is your website. I ended up cancelling that reservation and booking it over the phone with your staff. I'm still awaiting a refund from reservations.com but was assured by your front desk Manager Boo that it will be taken care of.
