Had a great room thanks to upgrade for Virtuoso membership and Mgr Parker. Loved the view. On down side, limited hours for room service was a disappointment. And lastly, concierge service was fare less effective than any other 5 star hotel we have ever been at. It also seems that the Hotel is clearly understaffed on many fronts. Especially the concierge desk. The restaurant staff was excellent. Had we been able to order room service later would have rated 9. If concierge had been up to snuff would have rated a 9.5 or 10.

Solid old hotel with a cheerful doorman, large comfortable room and bed, pleasant dining room for very tasty breakfast and a welcoming bar made for a happy vacation.
Great service all around! Great location within walking distance to Chinatown. Valet parking was wonderful! Our hotel of choice when we return to San Francisco.
I got in late and found that you no longer stock the minibars in rooms, so I could not enjoy a simple soft drink at the end of a long day of travel. The next morning, I found a dramatically pared-down breakfast menu as compared to my many stays in prior years. When I left, the doorman out front paid no attention to me, so I walked down to the sidewalk and got into the first cab in line on my own. I have always loved this hotel, but I get more benefits if I stay in a Hilton or other low priced major chain hotel.

Hello - Taking the time to write a review, because I did not feel taken care of at the level I would expect at this hotel. Upon check-in, I was not made aware of how to order room service and there were no refreshment offerings in the room. When I tried to call the front desk for water, no one picked up. I was told later that I had dialed the wrong number; however no instruction was provided to ensure the phone listed which number to call to reach the right person. It would have been better if there were sources of information I could turn to in the room. However, there was no information in the room, beyond what was on the tablet. Unfortunately, the tablet did not work correctly (i.e. it would not let me navigate through the pages, view complete menus). Suggestions: make sure there is a bottle of water in every room (or make sure guests know upon check-in that they need to request water from the front desk if they would like). Potentially add in al-a-carte items for purchase within the room. Make sure it is clear who to call for necessities like water and how to order room service. It would also be beautiful to have a robe as an option within the room. -- This is all coming from a situation I found myself in when I woke up early in the am thirsty, and realized I did not have any water (or other liquid) I could drink. That forced me to get dressed, go down 6 stories, and ask the front desk for a bottle of water. Thank you for the moment and consideration.
Likes: Clean, Nice Rooms, with beautiful views, and location is a big plus. Dislikes: No bottled water provided, no in-room coffee provided the first day, extra fees for using the internet, had to contact the hotel after checking out to get a hotel invoice, even though the desk clerk said she would e-mail it to me while I was checking out.
Check in was great. Travelling with family, online confirmed reservation at Tonga room was not noted at venue, had to wait for a table in the bar, drink was not complimentary. Eventually seated, food was not at par for pricing.
