The hotel is beautifully decorated with classic and modern art and of course pictures showcasing its long and glorious heritage. You feel like you’re taking a trip back in time! The rooftop garden is beautiful with a great view of landmark SF buildings. The restaurant staff provide great service and nice little touches with treats from the waiters and the chefs. I highly recommend it and my family will not allow me to book a different hotel when we go to San Francisco.
The rooms were comfortable, the bed was great and the view from the 20th floor was spectacular. My only wish was that the roof to the tower was available to see the whole city
We enjoyed a relaxing stay and staff presented as polite, friendly and professional.

Our stay exceeded our expectations. From the first interaction with the bellman through the registration, concierge, room attendants and restaurant everything was outstanding. Great location with easy access to all cable cars, interesting historical insights throughout the hotel and the harbor view from the tower, we were very pleased.
Love the location and the hotel is beautiful old school San Francisco. I have an extreme mold allergy and the first 2 rooms we were given had very bad mold in the bathroom that was prevalent as you walked in. They accommodated us and moved us down the hall. The breakfast was good, but the waitstaff while friendly was really slow and understaffed (waiting for an hour for food each meal and was very overpriced $100 for each meal and we did not even order full meals). Staff nice and accommodating and I imagine Covid hit them hard. I hope they can keep it going. The bar downstairs is a fun classic.

it's a great hotel of course and I've stayed at the Fairmont over the years. The service was excellent from the bell captain to the door to the reception and restaurant wait staff. Always courteous and everything went well.
Although the room itself was fine/good, we were shocked by how bad the food was. Many guests were talking about this in the dining room. If you're going to charge almost $30 for egg dishes, those eggs better be organic and pasture raised, which they were not. Very slow service in the dining room - food was horrible. So then we tried in-room dining and they got my order wrong and did not omit the sugar/cacao nibs from the oats as I requested and so they had to bring it back and then it was just plain oats with no toppings. Checking out was the slowest check-out I've experienced - very slow process and lots of technical issues printing the receipt with no printers working, very short-staffed. We booked with AmEx platinum and re-iterated we want our 4 pm guaranteed late checkout multiple times. Nonetheless, someone knocked on our door Sunday morning (day of check out) despite the privacy sign hanging on the door knob and they woke us up!! Again, despite our 4 pm late checkout. This caused my husband to get very sick - as he really needed to sleep in that day. This was a very unprofessional and quite frankly amateur showing for a hotel of stature/reputation like Fairmont. This was by far the worst Fairmont I have ever stayed out. I have had a better experience and better service at some 2-star hotels. We would like to request a refund of at least 1 night of our stay because this was such a shocking experience. The service and experience did not match up with the price tag. It was extremely sub-par and again more analagous to a poor 2-star hotel. Not okay to have people spend this kind of money and to experience this.
