What is a Spa Ritual?
The Spa Ritual  is a an age-old tradition of "taking of the waters" that you can experience at the Willow Stream Spa at The Fairmont Southampton which was designed to introduce our Spa guests to the health and relaxation benefits of Hydrotherapy. 
What is Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is a guided journey through different temperatures, pressures, and mineralized waters. At The Fairmont Southampton’s Willow Stream Spa, our Hydro Circuit elements are spread throughout the Spa in the form of steam and sauna rooms, showers, a pool with tri-therapeutic waterfalls, two hot tubs, and a variety of venues for relaxation outdoors and in.  The enjoyable journey combines hot and cold exposure which helps promote good circulation, eases joint pain, and relaxes tired muscles.  The temperature changes during the hydrotherapy circuits stimulate endorphins, creating a feeling of deep relaxation and rejuvenation.  After a guest has used the hydrotherapy circuit, other treatments and the overall spa experience is deeper and more effective.

Willow Stream Spa Bathing Ritual

  • Steam Room (5 – 10 minutes)
  • Cold Glass of Water
  • Jacuzzi (5 – 10 minutes)
  • Cold Glass of Water
  • Inhalation Sauna (5 – 10 minutes)
  • Cold Glass of Water
  • Spa Pool and Waterfall (15 – 20 minutes)
  • Cool Shower
  • Rest with Cold Facecloth and Cold Glass of Water (5 – 10 minutes)

To complete the journey, add on a therapeutic bath enhancement to your spa experience.

Steam Room
Maintained between 42°C and 45°C, our steam room’s humid, aromatic heat is highly therapeutic for those suffering from asthma and bronchitis, as the steam opens up the breathing passages and alleviates congestion. We recommend that each session last 10 to 15 minutes and that you keep your body well hydrated afterwards. Humid heat is especially beneficial before or after a massage treatment, as it increases circulation.

Maintained between 29°C and 45°C, our sauna’s dry heat soothes and warms the muscles, relieving body tension and minimizing joint pain. This is especially beneficial for those who suffer from illnesses such as arthritis, painful migraines and headaches; it is also a great way to warm the body after an intense workout or when you have the common cold. Dry heat is recommended for 10 to 15 minutes daily, and it is important to keep your body well hydrated afterwards.

Indoor Spa Pool
Bathed in natural light and kept at 28°C, the 18-metre indoor pool is the ideal spot for rest and relaxation, as well as year-round swimming.
