I am sorry to be writing this email but i feel it needs to be said so others do not encounter the same problem, We booked a 2 night stay at the Plaza as it has always been on both myself and my partners bucket list. Our first issue was on the Saturday afternoon when i arrived to ask the reception if it was possible to bring our luggage to the hotel on the Monday Morning (Check in day) whilst we went shopping to Woodbury common to be told this would be fine. After speaking to the reception we proceeded to the Bar to try and get afternoon tea to be told if we were not residents we would need to come back after 18:00 and it was first come first served (which was totally fine) and we left. On check in day Monday as previously asked we turned up to check our bags in at the reception to be told our room was ready but we had a SUV waiting outside the Plaza to take us to Woodbury but the receptionist had told the Concierge that the room was ready and bags could go straight to the room which i was happy with. On returning to the hotel at 16:30 after a long day shopping we went straight to our room to find out the bags had not been delivered and were actually still sitting in the store room down stairs. After eventually getting our luggage we went to the room which was stunning i must say. at 18:30 we went downstairs for dinner in the champagne bar where the service got worse in my opinion there was no more than 50 people in the bar but we waited 10 mins to get a bottle of Champagne orderded then anothe 15 ins after asking again where the bottle was ( now i paid over £200 Dollars for the bottle) and felt we were ignored after all this our order for food had still not been taken we eventually got our food 40 mins later and when the food came it was cold and needed to be replaced. We were going to stay longer but felt that if this was the service we would not enjoy the rest of the night so we went through and tried the bar Which i must say Tony was exceptional and helped us forget the poor start we had had. The following day i had asked for a late checkout to be told i could get the room free until 14:00 but if i needed it until 16:00 i would need to pay half the days cost ridiculous my opinion as that was over £800 for an additional 2 hours any way we eventually got the room until 15:00 and we went sightseeing on our return we thought we could check out and then go downstairs for afternoon Tea again i approached the Hostess to be told they were too busy and couldn't get a seat even if we were hotel guests ( going back to Saturday we were told it was only hotel guests who could eat there until 18:00 to my anger as it was full of walk-ins of the street to admire the decor etc) and we had spent over £5k in your hotel and could not use this area once for afternoon tea . finally we went back through to the champagne bar which we didn't because of the night before because of the service. In getting a seat in the private area for hotel guests only (as sign says at entry) we were asked to move seats with our drinks to accommodate more table space for other guests which we did (the table we were moved from stayed empty the whole time we were there then to top it all off the table sitting next to us came in off the street sat next to us taking numerous photos and when asked what they would like they answered we just want to take in the surroundings and left after 20 mins and buying nothing , Overall for what we spent at the Plaza and it to be a special occasion for both us it left us nothing but disappointed with the service in your hotel . We were meant to have our own butler never seen him once again shocking service.

Very good
Our regular room was surprisingly upgraded to a suite, which was an incredible experience. My girls and I had never stayed in a room anything like it before! There was a 7 ft lit Christmas tree in the room!! It was an amazing experience we will cherish forever. The room and amenities were superb. The hotel lobby was magnificent. The staff was very friendly. Nothing could top our experience. The hotel is also perfectly located within walking distance of the Macy’s parade.
I have been staying there for 15 times the past 3+ years service, employees throughout the hotel especially Shaun Hudson bartender in the Champagne bar, all your personal in concierge as well.
A perfect holiday and I am making plans to take my other daughters too next year!

Booked the hotel for its iconic name and let's just say it didn't live up to its fame. To list a few: 1. the staff in general were not approachable and friendly. Most of them gave me the impression that unless I'm someone super famous/rich, it is not worth their 'warm/premium service'. 2. service response are EXTREMELY slow. I asked to take away my inroom dining table, and no one came for 45min so I ended up rolling up to the hallway myself. Due to flight change, I called to see if I can extend my stay, and no one called me back after 30min, so I had to go to the lobby myself. One night the inroom service told me that it would be 2 hours before the food would be delivered. 3. they charge EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING. I was charged for a kettle and some 'tea set?' which consisted of 2 slices of dried out lemon, some milk and sugar which I didn't end up using at all. When we ask for kettle in other hotels, it is always complimentary. Similarly, I was charged $18 for them to deliver me the Uber Eats (as the inroom had 2 hours wait). So unless you are loaded and these charges are a drop in the bucket, be aware of these 'surprises'! 4. After checkout, I was charged $14 from snack bar which I didn't use. When I questioned the bill over the phone, the front desk person told me that he would need to "verify" before reversing the charge. When I asked how, he said they would have photos. Then I asked how would a picture of an opened snack be a prove that it is something that I ate/didn't eat? To which the response was 'I am not trying to argue with you. Do you understand what I am saying?'. Mind blowing. I stayed in fair amount of high-end hotels around the world, and I can safely say this is the WORST stay ever. They probably won't care a non-significant customer like me anyway, but this will be an one-off experience and I will not be coming back ever again.
We look forward to celebrating our holidays at the Plaza each year. Larry, Eddie, and the staff here make the stay so memorable. Nice to see all the familiar faces who go out of their way to provide stellar service.
