Blankenese

Blankenese

-
Blankenese, the famous staircase district, is probably the prettiest part of Hamburg. We recommend a round trip from Blankenese station on the "mountain goat", as the public bus is called here and which has to slim down quite a bit in some places, the streets are so narrow. On the way to the shore, between the houses, there are magnificent views over the kilometre-wide Elbe, and once you have reached the bottom, you should stop off on the terrace or in the conservatory of the Ahrberg restaurant. Then the trusty "mountain goat" will take you back to Blankenese station and from there you could take the 36 bus along the stately Elbchaussee to the city centre. Sit on the right-hand side for the magnificent harbour view! And you don't have to look at the villas on the Chaussee too enviously, because you're staying at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, which is much better!
