Pursuing a Gentle Balance

An assistant professor in the Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University, ethnobotanist Maria Fadiman discusses the Mayan approach to natural medicine, species conservation and how to find the balance of using resources in a sustainable way that allows flora and fauna to remain intact. Protecting a Fragile Future

National Geographic journalist, Joel K. Bourne brings his 20 years experience in reporting on key environmental matters to Fairmont Beijing, where he will raise awareness on issues effecting China and share individual initiatives he believes will be the catalyst for change. The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Canada

Author and host of the Nat Geo WILD show “Expedition Grizzly”, Casey Anderson brings stories of his unique relationship with a grizzly bear named Brutus, to The Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Guests will hear gripping and inspiring stories from his work with the Montana Grizzly Encounter, a bear rescue and education facility and will experience a tour of Whistler’s Blackcomb Mountain to get a firsthand look at the local bear population.

Exploring the Deep
Fairmont Battery Wharf, Boston

National Geographic undersea explorer, archeologist, author and treasure hunter Barry Clifford shares his stories on discovering the only confirmed pirate shipwreck in US waters – the Whydah, during “An Evening with Barry Clifford” hosted by Fairmont Battery Wharf. In addition to his work with the Whydah, Mr. Clifford has also searched Boston Harbor for ships and artifacts related to the Boston Tea Party and Revolutionary War.
